safety of speakers

hey guys, if i were to run more than the normal 5.1 set up, and lets say add more surround speakers, is it safe? will it drain power from the reciever and give it a harder time? i have 4 surround speakers laying around. my reciever is a harmon kardon avr65. thankx oh yea, those extra surround speakers are like 30wtts or so, from an amatuer aiwa system (HAHA).

How were you planing to hook them up?

You don't want to hook more than one speaker to each set of speaker terminals on your receiver. That can damage both your speaker and receiver because it doesn't have the proper load.

Bad idea. My father-in-law did this, and his stereo had to repaired twice in six months before I realized what he was doing and starightened him out. Expensive at alittle over $100 a pop.

Sure it is.

If you have a 6.1 processor/receiver.
