As this deals more with changes to basic DVD hardware over DVD software, moving to the DVD & Home Theater Hardware forum.

Thanks,

I thought this report was funny the 1st time I read it in Yahoo's website.

First, people are rethinking "Game Boxes" not rethinking DVD players. People want a Game Box that can also play a DVD. I would never look for a DVD player that could play a "TV Game". Playstation 2 and all the other Game Boxes have allot of problems playing DVDs and do not have all the features a real DVD player has. So, the article got this one reversed!

Second, I thought it was funny how they gave MircoSofts X-Box top billing over Sony/Nintendo. Saying:

"DVD players also have strong links to game consoles. One of the selling points for Microsoft's Xbox game console is that, with an optional add-on, it can be used as a DVD player. Sony's PlayStation 2 (news - web sites) can also act as a DVD player, without requiring an add-on. In Japan, Panasonic is selling a DVD player that can double as a Nintendo (news - web sites) GameCube system."

PlayStation 2 has been allowing DVD play for about 18 months, but they write as if MicroSoft came up with the idea.

The way the article was written, it made me wonder if MicroSoft published it?
