3:2 Pulldown; 16:9 Squeeze

Hi All:
Can anyone give me a brief explanation of pulldown & 16:9 squeeze? I have a 32" Panasonic Tau...DVD connected to component in...DVD's look great, but other threads say the TV doesn't do 16:9 squeeze in progressive mode...what does this mean...am I missing something? I still have black bars on widescreen (leterbox) DVD's (which I would, as the TV is 4:3 ratio).
Also, I don't understand the whole theory about pulldown...anyone want to try to explain to a newbie?
Thank you all!

Please do a search next time as this is a well discussed topic. In fact there are a couple of threads going on right now about this on page 1. I also have a description of both in the FAQ of this forum.
