Home Theatre In A Box? Need opinions!!!

I just removed the DVD player from my bedroom to downstairs to accompany my new reciever.
Anyway my wife doesn't want to watch movies downstairs all the time.
I want to get a Hometheatre in a box...
Speakers, Reciever/DVD Player for less than $300.

Need your help people. Time is of the essence.
Thanks

Errr, there's NOTHING out there worth a damn at that price.

You could get the Kenwood HTB504 (if you can find it, it's on the verge of being replaced by a newer model) for $499, which is a pretty damn nice system for a HTIB. But this does NOT have a DVD player.

Good luck at that price, you might look for something used. If you want new one of those "jambox" looking 5-speaker things might fit the budget but since you also want a DVD player you're probably SOL.

Speakers with sub $150, DVD player $70, receiver $125 about the best you will find and will be lucky at that price.

You might find the Kenwood HTB504 for $350 on line. For discussion on HTIB, check out this thread:

Kenwood makes one for $299 that you can buy at either Target, Wal-Mart, or K-Mart (can't remember which).

I've heard it, and it sounds pretty good (thought the subwoofer could use a little more 'kick'). The front, center, and satellites sounds surprisingly good. I would recommend this to anyone looking in the $300-range.

No DVD player included.
