32" TV advice

So, I'm thinking about upgrading my old Phillips 25" TV to a flatscreen 32", but have some questions:

1. Due to space limitations, I'm about 7' from the TV. Is this too close for a 32"?

2. 80% of the time the TV is used for DVDs with the remaining time split between PS2 games and TV. I'm looking at the Sony KV32FS13 because it offers the 16:9 enhanced mode. The XBR is beautiful, but more than I want to spend given my current setup. Oh yeah, the question: are there any other TVs that offer something similar to Sony's 16:9 enhanced mode?

Thanks for your help!

Seven feet may not be the recommended viewing distance, but if seven is all you have that is all you have. I have a 32" Toshiba and I probably sit about 8-9 ft. away when watching movies. If I had the room I would like to go a couple feet back, but I can't. It is still way better than the 19" it replaced. I'm sure the video games will look awesome on it. My Coleco Vision is a completely different beast on a 32" set.

I have a 32" JVC that I sit about 8' from. No viewing problems at all. I upgraded for a 26" and I think you will adjust quite easily.

Check out the 47" 16:9 HT in my signature. 9' away from the set and all stations but the snowiest ones on cable look good, and progressive scan anamorphic DVD is mind-numbing bliss.

Of course, I had to tweak the holy heck out of it to get the picture so good but that's half the fun...

I have a 32" Sony XBR Wega and sit 8 feet away. For full screen it's awesome. For 1.85:1 it's pretty good and for 2.35:1 I would like to be about 2 feet closer.

So I did it.

I'm picking up my 32" Wega KV32FS13 tonight. The 16:9 mode made it an easy choice.

Thanks for your help.

Is there any difference between a KV32FS12 and a KV32FS13? I bought my KV32FS12 about a year ago, and it has the 16:9 enhancement feature. It's the most barebones KV32FS-line TV (as far as I know), but it still had the enhancement feature. I figured I didn't need and didn't want to pay for the PiP feature.

Fire bad!

Static,

exact same tv, except for the faces color.

your tv's face is probably the grayish/silver with matching buttons on the top. The newer models now have "magnesium" colored faces (meaning that they're darker), and the buttons on the top of the set are reflective silver.

I know this becasue I bought last years 27' model, and just got the newer 32' model last month.
