Pixellization with Wega - question
From a relative HT newbie:
I recently purchased a Sony Wega 32" flatscreen TV. It's attached to a 1.5 year old Samsung (!) DVD player via Radio Shack component video cables.
I was watching the Die Hard 5-star DVD the other day, and I noticed that when the camera would pan across a window with venetian blinds, I could detect a slight pixellization in the picture; there was a bit of a shimmer that seemed unnatural. I've also seen it in shots of water, like the ocean.
My question is, what is the culprit for this shimmer? Is it a flaw in the TV? Is it a flaw in the DVD transfer? Or, as I suspect, is it some shortcoming in my cheapo Samsung DVD player?
Thanks for any help,
Doug

Hard to say. The effect could be artifacting resulting from the transfer. You can try to smooth some of that out with various tv/dvd settings. Using something like video essentials or avia to calibrate your tv could help.
