Explanation?

Yo, this is a post regarding macrovision.
My sister and I bought my mom a DVD player (toshiba 1750) and since my mom has an older television (rca floor console) and has a vcr (rca about 5 years old) hooked up to it, there were no composite inputs left so we bought a RF modulator.

So, christmas comes and i hook the dvd player up and everything is fine so i decided to hook it up directly to the vcr just to see what would happen and to my suprise, it works perfect!!! No color fading in and out or any of the problems that are supposed to occur. We have only watched about 3 movies thus far, but everyone worked perfectly.

Any explanation??

again here are the components

RCA televison (old floor console model, at least 10 years old)
RCA 4 head Hi-Fi VCR (about 5 years old)
Toshiba 1750 dvd player

vcr is hooked up to TV via composite cables (red, white, yellow)

My guess: your vcr does not have macrovision protection.

Consider yourself lucky.

Try recording. I have some VCRs that pass the signal for viewing and others that don't, but none of them allow recording the signal.
