S-Video vs Component Tis My Dilema!
I'm kinda in a dilema, I have a Sony Playstation2, an Xbox, and a standalone DVD player and 2 use component hook-ups and one S-Video.
My problem is that I can't find a Component switch box that has both S-Video and Component hook-ups and well, I want to know if theres that big of a differene in video quality between S-Video and Component hook-ups.............

Here's a solution:
Buy any s-video switcher that has S-video, composite, and audio left/right. I have a nice RCA that has 6 inputs and 1 output.
Now, use the S-video as S-video. That leaves you with a yellow video, and a red and white audio. Use those as your component. It will work fine. Just remember what colors you use for what.
Here's my suggestion:
Red - Red
White - Blue
Yellow - Green
Hope this helps.

Why don't you just get a high powered receiver (Denon 3802 or Onyo TXDS-797) where you can plug in 2 Component sources and have the receiver act as your switch box.
Yah that is the expensive route but atleast you'll have the receiver out of the way.

Bose Pro is right. it will work that way for COMPONENT hook up. just make sure you match up the ins and outs correctly.
Here's the thread that discussed this exact thing not too long ago
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=164630
my last post in that thread has 2 more links that verify. read them carefully and you'll save a ton of money (well, maybe not a ton, but a good amount).

I'm sure the switcher suggestion above will work, but bare in mind you may experience some signal degradation as a switcher designed for audio signals will be the wrong impedance and might not have sufficient bandwidth. Whether you notice a difference, is a different question. Won't hurt to try it.
