Question about my receiver
 

I have a sony de-835. I know its not a favorite around here, but i picked it up before reading this board. Now here is my problem, I can not get DTS or Dolby Digital to work. The manual isn't very helpful on this issue. They say to just turn on Auto Format Decode, but that always makes only my front speakers play sound. So if anyone here uses this receiver, I would appreciate it if you could assist me.

Is your DVD player hooked to the receiver using the optical or coax connection? You won't get DD/DTS unless you use one of these. You also need to go into the receiver setup menu and tell it what connections are being used for inputs and speakers

maybe I should have mentioned this earlier, but I am using my Playstation 2 as my dvd player. I have it connected through a toslink cable. The Playstation 2 says it can play DD and DTS, but I just can't figure out how to do it. Any further suggestions would be appreciated.
