Problem with DVD picture
 

I'm sorry if this question has been answered someplace else, but here goes.

I used to have a old 27' tv, but the tube started going out, so I had to swap it out with a 15'. Because the new set doesn't have RCA inputs, only coax, I had to route everything through my VCR. Now when I watch DVD's the picture will go dark and then brighten every few seconds. This probelm occurs with both my RCA player and my PS2, but only with movies on the playstation. It isn't a cabling issue since the two units have been tested with different cables. I don't think it is a signal issue because I put a signal booster between the TV and the vcr.
The only thing that I think it could be would be the anti-copy protection feature kicking in.
The DVD player like I said before is a RCA. The TV is a zenith and the VCR I think is a zentih as well.

So I guess the question is, How can I get the picture back to how it used to be, within technical limitations. Should I go buy a RF adapter or am I going to have to find a new way to watch my discs.

Sorry this is so long, nobody I have talked to has any idea as to how to fix it.

Bingo!

Macrovision raises it's ugly head. Tim, I highly recommend you scrape together some cash and head over to Wally World or somewhere and get yourself a cheap, though modern, TV. The VCR's AGC circuit is being fritzed by the Macrovision signal coming out of your DVD player (and your PS2 when playing a DVD). You could just go purchase a $100 SIMA SCC-Pro color corrector, which will fix this problem when placed between the player and the VCR, but I think you will be much happier if you get a new TV.

I'd second the new TV advice. You can find an acceptable 27-inch TV for less than $250 these days.

Another option would be an RF modulator, available at Radio Shack for about $30. The picture quality won't be the best, but it's the cheapest solution.

At this point in time, I'll have to go with the RF modulator because I'm a starving college student and can't afford a new tv, maybe after the holiday.
