Prop Scan DVD w/ Plasma Q

I had a customer say that to get the progressive scan quality image, you do not need a progressive scan DVD player with it hooked up to a Plasma because the TV already is already digital. I was always under the impression that you had to have a progressive scan DVD player AND a digital TV. Can someone please clarify so I do not give inaccurate information?

Thanks.

You are right. Most TV's cannot handle a progressive image. A digital plasma can, but then you need a prog scan player.

He might be refering to the internal line doubler. Which is cool, but different.

You know, that you mention that, he did mention something about an internal line doubler. But he insisted that it was prog scan.

What exactly is an internal line doubler? It sounds as if it fills in the interlaced odd or even lines with the sames lines instead of leaving them there through a pass.

Thanks.
