a couple DTS questions (hardware)
I recently purchased a DTS reciever and my first DTS capable DVD (shrek), and I have a couple questions, because i hear no audio.
When playing the DD 5.1 soundtrack, the sound comes in fine, and my reciever tells me the sound i am hearing is DD 5.1....
but when i switch to the DTS track, i hear nothing. My DVD player supports dts... so... is there a setting on my DVD player I need to enable in order to decode the sound properly? I have a Phillips DVD player that is about 2 years old. (can't remember the model #... i think its an 850 though).
Thanks.

Many players need you to change the audio output in the DVD player's setup menu to something like "bitstream" or "DTS" or something -- your manual should tell you what this setting is, but you could also find it through trial and error.
It is less likely, but there might be some setting in your receiver as well... but most automatically detect and decode the proper signal.
Also, I checked audioreview and it seems that several other owners have had problems with certain DTS tracks -- maybe you should try another DTS disc and see if Shrek isn't to blame.
