Front Main Speakers Popping?

Hey all,
Quick speaker question. I have JBL N38 for my front mains. (i have a complete 5 speaker set up) When i play a DVD the 2 N38s make a popping sound when the people are talking. All the speaker cable is clear from all the electrical cable. If i play a CD in the DVD player no popping sound? I chage the reciever settings from Dobly Digital/DTS depending if i play a CD or DVD. I notice a little difference if i turn off the "loudness" button. I like the "loundness" on when i play CD's and it adds to the DVD's too. since i don't have a sub. Any ideas how i can stop the popping? Thanks!

i noticed this problem before on my speakers. i have the energy take 5's although that has no bearing on this. i finally figured it out. my onkyo 575 has a dynamic limiter - preventing the volumes from going from silent to LOUD too quickly. and on certain dvd's most notably, Saving Private Ryan - it popped a LOT. check to make sure all the sound enhancing or manipulating features are turned off.

thanks hahn for the advise. but what do you mean by sound enhancing features? the only one i use is the "loudness button" it helps bring out the bass since i don't have a sub

yah, turn that off, and if it works, i guess it's time to get a new sub

there's a sony sub that's under $200 that everyone on this board seems to love. i have the energy exls-10 myself, which i love but is a bit pricier...
