Is image on computer monitor always progressive?

I'm wondering if when you play DVDs on your computer, the resulting image you get on your monitor is progressive. If so, it kind of gives me an idea what a progressive picture is like. I know that the image on a computer monitor is non-interlaced.

I saw the Star Wars DVD deleted scenes on a computer monitor and all I can say is, WOW!

These days yes. In the old days computer monitors were interlaced.
