sony's dvd player c-13 error

Need deperate advice on brand new Sony dvd player. First video played only lasted 19 minutes before error c-13 happened.
From what i have read, this is like a fatal error.
Should i just back it up and return it?
Any advise???

I believe it means it can not read the disc (DVD) that was put in.

What I get on my DVP-S500 (I think that's the model) is :

C- 13:00 or such and that is usually either the DVD is scratched too bad for it to read it or there is something on it.

I would check the disc and if it looks fine then bring back the player.

Also, try checking for your model at audioreview.com. I have been looking to get a Sony player but I am finding that this is a common problem.

Just thought I would throw that out there.

My DVP-535D has been doing the same lately...Brand new discs skipping, weird blocky artifects in the video...grainy video....doesn't always happen tho.

What's the deal with this? Can it be fixed?
