Pioneer VSX D810/850S or Sony 975/1075 Receivers?
Does anyone out there have any experience with either Pioneer's or Sony's new 6.1 receivers? I've noticed a price drop on the Pioneer's and am seriously considering a purchase. I also noticed the new Sony 6.1 receivers as well (although I know the 975 only has connections for a 5.1 speaker system, like Yamaha's "mid range" receiver). Any input you can give would be much appreciated.

I don't really care for the sound quality of the low end Pioneer and Sony receivers. (Non Pioneer Elite and non Sony ES) In this price range I believe that your money would be much better spent on a receiver like the Onkyo TX-DS 595 or the Denon 1802. I know that they are not 6.1, but I believe that 6.1 although nice is overrated. I prefer a nice, quality 5.1 receiver with well made, efficient speakers.

I would stay away form the sony 975 and 1075 they are from the DE series. I own a receiver in the DE series (575) but it cost less than $200. The DE1075 sounds just like the DE575 but cost way more. If you really want cheap but decent 6.1 look into the DB series from sony.
