Multiple "DVD audio" ins into receiver.... do I need a switcher?
Howdy! Here's my relevant HT setup:
- Receiver with optical digital, coaxial digital, and RCA (?) sound inputs for DVD player
- DVD player with coaxial digital cable into receiver
- PS2 with optical digital cable
I use my DVD player as my movie player, and my PS2 as my games console... I won't be watching DVD movies from the PS2. Right now, my PS2 is running RCA sound (red & white cables) through my cable box. Since I have all the right cables, I'd ideally like to get digital sound from both my DVD player and PS2. However, when I plug both the coax and the optical digital cables into the receiver, I don't get any sound out of both machines. I'm guessing having both cables going into the DVD audio in creates some sort of conflict. Plugging my PS2 into another optical digital in and switching to it on my receiver doesn't work.
The questions... is there any way to get digital sound from both machines without a switcher (other than plugging and unplugging the cables when I want to use a different machine)? If I need a switcher, where could I find an inexpensive A/V switcher with S-video and digital audio capabilities?
