Hey al. I just purchased this and I have a question. It is HDTV compatiable so does that mean I need an HDTV decoder in order to watch TV? I plan on buying one but not for a while. If this is a stupid question I apologize

Yes, you need a HDTV decoder. Almost all HDTV's require one.

So in order to watch any non HDTV programming I need the decoder? or do I just need it to watch shows that are broadcast in HDTV?

Just for the HDTV programming. Normal television, DVD, TiVo, Playstation, etc. require no additional hardware.

Warning... This TV will show how crappy regular cable signal's are w/o HDTV signal... DVD's are oh so sweet though

Thanks guys. I knew that I needed the decoder to watch anything broadcast in HDTV. Just wanted to make sure I could watch TV without it. Otherwise the TV would have been a colossal waste.
