Sound and Music in multiple rooms?
I am in the process of renovating my new home and I would like to buy a moderately priced device that will allow me to send the sound from my receiver to multiple speakers in different rooms of the house. I'm not exactly sure what it would be called but I've seen some in action in the more recent homes. I don't need controls in every room. It would be cool but I would be happy with just one control in the same room as the receiver that I could use to turn on speakers in the other parts of the house. Anyone know what this is called or have any suggestions on decent priced, well working models?
Thanks in advance!

Many ways to do this but assuming that like the rest of us, you're on a limited budget and don't want to go overboard.
You can pickup a speaker switch box from either Radio shack, Best buy, Circuit City, etc. There are two basic types of boxes...ones that are powered (a bit more in price) and those that aren't. If you have some good speakers in the the other room(s), get a powered box. The prices increase as you get boxes that can handle more speakers.
Examples of these types of boxes can be found at places such as Niles Audio (http://www.nilesaudio.com/misc_products/index.html). If you goto this link (http://www.nilesaudio.com/pdffiles/manuals/sps4man.pdf), you can find a diagram of how things are put together.
Prices for boxes w/o power with four sets of speaker distribution can be as lows as $40 (Radio Shack) or powered distribution for 10 speakers as much as $500.
One other thing to mention....if your primary receiver is dual-zone and you have a second amplifier for the second zone, put the box on the second zone.
Good luck.
