DVD-Ram External Drive recommendations?
I want to put some of my favorite movies that are only on VHS and do not look like will be out on DVD soon if ever onto DVD. Buying a standalone home theater recorder is 4 times as expensive as getting one for PC, plus you get more options and things that you can do with a computer.
I'm an "external" guy, I have 3 PCs and always move and connect things around, and want an external DVDRam drive, have my eye on Panasonic's LF-D291 DVD-RAM with an EZQuest case for around $460. It only has 1mb buffer memory which is TERRIBLE, I had lots of coasters with my 2mb CDRW, currently have an 8mb buffer memory for a 16x CDRW drive and there are no problems, so that might be an issue when transfering/burning huge DVD video/data files onto expensive DVD-R discs.
Any recommendations for an external DVD Ram drive? I can even agree to an internal, just so that it's good. Also, what's a Firewire connection? I see you need an adapter between Firewire and SCSI which costs another 120 bucks, and I guess Firewire is a Mac connection system...ugh
