Sony DVP-S360 and Independence Day

The other night I ran into problems watching "ID4" on my Sony player. When I got to later chapters it "jumped layers," froze, and/or tiled. I've heard that ID4 uses a special form of scene transition technology that may not work on some players (the disc worked fine on the DVD-ROM drive in my Dell). Has anyone else had this problem? Is it time already to upgrade my player (I've only had it a little over a year)?

Works fine on my Sony DVPS-530D which is the model year before yours.
