Any good Panasonic or Technics speakers?
Like the title said, any recommendations?
|
No. There are none.
Next question? |
nope.
sorry :( |
Sorry, no.
Listen to one of these in your price range: http://www.goodsound.com/original/speakers.html Where to find them? Look in the yellow pages under "Stereo". |
My advice generally is that speakers by electronic companies are not very good. They may be acceptable based on the price but do yourself a favor a shop for speakers from speaker companies.

No. Maybe cheap. But not good.
Try PSB, Paradigm, Mirage, B&W, Martin Logan, or Magnepan. |

Sure, they only cost 700 times as much, but I know you'll be much happier. I'm not suggesting that Martin Logans and Magnepans aren't great speakers, but the cheapest pair made by either of these companies is the $500 Magnepan model that requires better amplification than anybody looking at Panasonic and Technics speakers is bound to have. |
About two years ago I was in a K's Merchandise store and they had a Technics 5.1 speaker setup. The Technics speakers were THX certified and had the logos on them to prove it. I have no idea of the model numbers, and can't remember the price either. The point is that not all Technics speakers are necessarily complete crap--not that THX certification is that worthy necessarily, but I'd say they do make some speakers that are a couple of steps up from Panasonic.

A THX certification has nothing to do with sound only specs.http://www.thx.com/consumer_products/home_faq.html#1

One of my best friends works at the Sony/Columbia lot too, so any recommendations on those would be good too. :) |
Sorry about the Martin Logan and Magnepan. Great speakers, but I didn't know your price range. I just threw out some brands that provide great value.
The good news is that some the other companies have excellent speakers in your price range. For instance: PSB Alpha (fronts) $200 PSB Alpha Mini (rears) $150 PSB Alpha Midi (center) $100 Sony WM-40 (sub) $150 Total $600 (online prices) This system will blow away any Home Theater in a Box type system or any speakers from electronics companies. |
If your looking for a lot of bang for your buck (and who isn't), I'd recommend checking out NHT. I have NHT's all round and am very happy with them. The only thing is you won't find them in any of the super stores, you'll need to find a home theatre store that carrys them.
