OK,I have my Sony subwoofer hooked up to my receiver via sub pre out. I have my dvd player hooked up to my receiver via digital coaxial cable. When I play dvds,the sub pumps out deep,full bass. No problem there. Yet,when I play cds,the sub pumps out nothing. Do subwoofers only work on dvds? Or is there some hookup/receiver
setting I should try?
Again, dvds sound great with the sub on,but when I play cds, I get
no deep,full bass. Help!

you probably need to adjust either 1) the sound mode (it's probably set to 2-channel, you need 2-channel + sub) 2) your speaker setting (if it's 'large' then nothing will be redirected to the sub and all you'll get is the LFE track on dvds - make sure it's set to 'small')

This is not always true. On my receiver if I am using 2 channel stereo for CDs it will send a signal to the sub and I use the crossover on the sub to set the frquency. In most cases for receivers the "large" and "small" setting just determines how much of a signal is sent to the LFE channel but there is always some signal sent. Of course that could be very receiver dependent.

My reciever(its a Sony) will do the same thing if in the 2 channel mode, but the sub works fine on cd's if set in a DSP mode or on the A.F.D mode ( which is basically 2 channel plus sub)
