A TV question for you guys
 

I was thinking about buying a new tv sometime soon...and thinking that i would like to spend about 500 dollars or so...maybe a little more....or less.....but i was just wondering if any of you could give me input as to what one would be the best bang for my buck...becuase i want one that is good to dvds...thanks for any input...its all greatly appreciated!

At that price range (maybe a bit more) get the entry level Sony Wega. It has a 16:9 mode for DVDs, and will give you one of the best direct view pictures on the market on a 4:3 television. Spend a little extra money and get a TV that will last you until if and when HDTV is ever fully implemented.

Yeah, the entry level is right about 600 bucks. 800.com has them on sale right for about 640 shipped, though I would check out local dealers as well. I am pretty sure I have seen it at Best Buy for 600 also, which might make more sense to buy there if you ever have any problems considiering the size of the unit.

Toshiba also makes some decent models with component video inputs (though no 16:9 mode), but you don't get the detail or flat screen of the Wegas, but do save some money.

Bestbuy has the WEGA without PIP for $600. The 16x9 mode is very cool if you watch a lot of DVD's.If you don't watch many DVDs, JVC and Panasonic have nice models for less.

Make sure you get something which has component inputs.
