I need a component video cable to connect my DVD player to the TV. I heard you could just buy some 75 ohm wires and connect them instead of paying the unreasonable prices for Monster products. Could someone tell me what exactly I need to buy (cables, connectors, etc.) to make my own component video cable?
Thanks,
Manoj.

Do you know approx. how much the setup you mntioned would cost? Also is it possible to just buy three pair of wire that already have the connectors and stuff on them? How much would thay cost?

Not sure of the prices but I wouldn't think to much. Buying the coax already made up plus the connectors plus adapters probably around $15.
I just purchased the Radio Shack Gold Series Component cables for around $30.

MCM Electronics still has some of those "RCA Home Theater" Video Cables that are made for RCA by Monster Cable.
I use 3 of those - of the same length - for connecting my Component DVD output to my Wega's component input.
Total cost is something like $10 to $15.

This guy/gal made my Component & Digital Audio cable with True 75OHM cables and Canare connects using a real canare crimping tool. Very nice cables and canares connector's are A+. I recommend him for High quality cables.

It would be cheaper just to buy one single S-Video cable. Unless you have HDTV or a large projection TV, you will not tell the difference between component and S-Video.

In connecting my JVC 723 to my Toshiba TW56x81 HD TV I purchased the best video cable Radio Schack sells and they work perfect. Picture quality is fabulous and I can't see how it could be better by using the much more expensive Monster cabels.

Checkout this site with lots of useful info about DIY cables.

I'have made more than 20 cables for Component Video, Digital Coax and LFE output using the instructions there.
