I am looking to get one of these because my 2 recorder/players stopped recording all of a sudden. Anyway, what are some good prices for this model? Thanks very much.

LOL...my personal components broke down too! That's funny...well, not really.

Anyhow, I just got the MZ-R700DPC off of eBay for $219. I think the MSRP is like $279 for the 700. From the best of my knowledge, there is not a huge difference in the two. You might want to investigate the differences. I know the 700 has recording capabilities, optical in, USB cable for MP3 recording, and the extened LP recording at 2X and 4X to turn an 80 minute MD into 160 or 320 minutes (kind of like a VCR). I got it in green. Should be here tomorrow.

Hey does anybody know how that USB connection works?
Does it allow you to just transfer mp3 files to md like an mp3 player does? OR does it still require you to record the music in real time?

It is converted back to .WAV or .CDA file, not as an .MP3. Real time, basically. However, it's still nice for someone like me that has like a million songs on my hard drive that I like to record onto CD (and now MD). Also, with the Sony extended recording, I can get 4 times more music on a MD. That's nice....

Hey Bose Pro,
Any idea if you have to set the recording levels on the md recorder or does it automatically set it to the max (as in when you do a cd copy using the optic connection)?

No clue yet...

I will get it tomorrow. I know Sony states that it is adjustable, so I imagine you can choose what speed to record at.
