Will this set display NTSC?

I wouldnt recomend buying a television for a country in europe it is most likely configured to display PAL....even if you did get a box to convert the signal to NTSC the image would be degraded. I couldn't recomend the US version of the WEGA TV more though! Just picked one up on saturday(non XBR) and it is AWESOME!

they state (planet300o.com) that this is a multisystem tv and that it can display all standards (PAL-SECAM-NTSC).
it also has a built in auto-voltage power supply that can either go 110 or 220 volts.

Yes, the SONYs (and those of many other companies) are able to display both - it's usually the American brands that only go with one of the two - the picture is in no way worse than on an NTSC-only machine.

most tv's in europe can display other tv systems, however 90% of the sets can only do this from the video input (composite, RGB, or svhs source such as dvd). The european tv will not be able to decode a NTSC signal from cable!. Its tuner is designed for europe,( other frequency bands and other stereo modulation).Its will not work unless you use a NTSC VCR as tuner for cable.Most american dvd players don't output RGB (RED GREEN BLEU)but something different...All european tv's are equiped with scart connectors, this is an combined video connecter for RGB, CVBS and SVHS in and output. It has no american RCA plugs inputs

That's a sweet looking TV, but 32" in 16x9 is pretty small, IMO. I'd check out the Tosh 40" at BB just for comparison - think about the Sony 16x9 TV being 8" smaller than the Tosh - and see if that's acceptable. It'll look much smaller than the 36" 4x3 XBR you're getting rid of.

But it sure is one beautiful TV! :)

Why invite the possible problems of buying a Euro Wega? If you have problems, who will service? The suggested Yoshiba 40" HD 16:9 is a very good value AND provides an incredible picture on even non-progressive DVD with component video hook ups.

Spending bigger bucks? There are some 16:9 direct views from Panasonic I believe that would achieve the same as the Wega you mention.
