I'm shocked if it is, and if it is, I'll definately buy it now. But one more question, if that flatscreen is (I want a 27" flatscreen), why isn't my little 20" Samsung?

Do a search for Wega and 16x9 mode and you'll find find all the answers you need.
To briefly answer your last question, yes there are still black bars that are the same size as all 4x3 tv's. You just get a 33% higher resolution. On a 16x9 tv you will still get black bars from movies that are filmed in the 2.35.1 aspect ration (the widescreen format with the thicker black bars). Only films shot in 1.85.1 will fill a 16x9 set.

If you have a true 16:9 TV c2.40:1 AR material will still be letterboxed, while 1.33 and 1.66:1 material will be windowboxed.
Having a 4:3 TV that features a 16:9 mode is superior to regular 4:3 TVs for viewing anamorphically enhanced DVDs. It will have the same quality as a 16:9 'widescreen' TV.

While WEGA's are not 16x9(I wish), they are superior to just about any other 4:3 set. I know we can sit here and argue that forever, but it will get us nowhere.
I have a 32" and I love it. The 16x9 is awesome for DVDs and you will definately enjoy it if you get one.
