Thought some of you might find this amusing:

Washington Post -- http://washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/art...2001Jun12.html

"The cables alone -- just the wires that connect the various components -- set him back a little more than the price of a new Volkswagen Jetta."

You know you've got a problem when the reporter uses the price of a car as a standard unit of measurement. The article is a pretty interesting discussion of the high-end audio fascination.

Heh, he reminds me of a friend of mine in Holland. I emailed a link to the article to him. I wonder what he'll think...

Interesting, yes. Amusing, not really. Sounds like a man who appreciates music to me.

It’s all relative. Which is more ridiculous: someone who makes $40,000 per year spending $2,000 on a HT system or someone who makes $2,000,000 a year spending $40,000 on a system?

IMO, if an expensive system makes someone happy and they can afford it (heck even if they can’t), who cares? It’s their life and their money.

The only sad part is that this guy doesn't have a Front Projection TV in that same room for a great home theater.

IIR, it was a two-channel system for music listening, so a FP system probably wasn't too high on the priority list.
