Kind of depends on what you are looking for. If good sound, then go with the Infinity's, AR's, etc.
However, for fun and/or background music for party's, I been looking at those speakers that look like big rocks! I don't have a web site right off hand. They use to only be available at "pool/patio" stores. But I have seen them at Fry's electronics, once even at Sam's. Since we live in Phoenix, part of our back yard is gravel, with some larger boulders. So the rock speakers would fit right in.
Just another though!

I just bought outdoor speakers called "The Edge" by acoustic research. They got good reviews on audioreview.com. They sell for $200/pair at most places, but I found them for about $130 at consumer-direct.com.

Bose makes 3 sets...111's, 151's, and the awesome 251's. The 251's are arguably the best on the market, however, they do have a price tag at $399 MSRP. Be sure to include them when you listen to all the outdoor speakers.

Look at the niles line -- eg the Niles OS3
(here is a link for the os3 at SoundCity):

The OS1 is a pretty good one-way speaker for about $99.
I have a pair of Advents outside, but the Niles are much better made.
Good luck.
