Can somebody explain to me exactly what a dark tube on a tv will due? better picture? pros? cons? Thanks in advance

i've never heard of a "dark tube." are you by chance referring to the "mask" that is used on some tubes to enhance black levels and provide higher contrast?

Samsung has a "dark tube" (picture tube tinted black) that they say improves colors and picture contrast. If it's anything like what I had on a computer monitor it will absorb ambient light and therefore glare and reflect less and look less washed out in bright light.

The monitor I had was quite amazing in how good it looked. However the tube has to put out more light to get through the dark layer.
