Hello All...
It is time to upgrade my old 21" to a 32" TV.
What I am looking for most is something with S-Video (For DVD Player) and RCA Hookups (For VCR). What would be the best 32" TV (including extras of course) for under $800?
I need suggestions/reccomendations please

If you are running S-Vid and Composite only, I highly recommend the Sony 35" KV-35S42, should run you around $900. It is even flatter than the 32" Trinitrons. Don't waste your money on FD Trinitron. Marketing hype and geometry problems galore. You are welcome to try, of course

What does everyone think about Toshiba's?
I have found one that works for me..
It is a Toshiba 32A40.
Does anyone know if that is an out of date model or a recently released model?
Any help would be appreciated.

Well I looked at the Toshiba line before purchasing my Wega, no comparsion. And yes the Wega produces a better picture than the KV-35S42. Worth every penny. Back to the Toshiba, seems the tuners are very slow, make sure you get component outputs whichever model you chose.

Please keep in mind that when properly calibrated, a 35S42 and a VVega will look identical with S-Vid sources. All my important sources are S-Vid (DVD, DBS, and PC Display). Yes, you read it right, my 35S45 doubles as a HTPC Display, producing data grade 480i output. Now you know why an S-Series can be every bit as good as a VVega with S-Vid sources. It's your money, get more for it. And save an extra $150 for an ISF calibration if you cannot calibrate on your own using the Service Menu. More info at http://members.accessus.net/~090/awh/sonyadj.html
PS. They are called Component INPUTS, and are unnecessary for displays under 36" and with 1-6' of cable lengths.
As for Toshibas, they can be great. However, two years ago when I was in the market, there were Moire problems with their 36" sets. Search on Google a bit, and you may read some. Also, you can read reviews of anything to do with Home Theater at http://www.audioreview.com
And remember, doing an A/B comparison between displays in the showroom before proper calibration is worthless, in fact, it is obsene. Good luck.

I have a Toshiba 36" and love it. I've had it for over a year and absolutely no problems. You can find one for around $800, so why not upgrade from 32"?
