OK I asked about getting audio from my tv to my new reciever a couple podsts ago. I think I figured out the problem with the helkp of others here. I have no audio outs on my tv just audio ins. Is it possible to get sound from the tv straight to the reciever or am i Out of luck. I have a vcr but it's old withou any inputs except for one for cable.

you can get audio from your VCR by connecting the audio OUT (usually marked red and white) from the VCR to an audio IN on your receiver. w/o audio outs on your TV that's the only way i can think of.

Even though your VCR is old, it should have at least one audio output. You could buy a splitter and send the signal to the R/L inputs on the receiver. You'd only have mono sound -- no surround sound -- but it would be cheap and easy.

Or you could just go buy a 4-head HiFi VCR for about $80 and hook up the audio outputs to the receiver. Then you could have surround sound for your TV shows and VHS tapes.
