Ok I saw this awesome 20" or so Toshiba flat screen tv w/ a built in VCR at Sams Club yesterday. I want to get it for the basement to watch stuff while playing ping pong and stuff. My question is this though... I want to have a DVD player hooked up to it too, of course. Will macrovision kick in because the VCR is built in? Or will it only make the picture funky if a tape is in the VCR? I would mostly use a Pioneer or Toshiba DVD player.
Many thanks...!

My Guess is that you will have mega problems. I tryed this with a VCR-TV/VCR when the VCR part died, It keept fliping to blue screen, I thought there was something wrong with my new VCR and Exchamged it, same deal
(so i bought a bigger TV )
So if this doesn't happen my guess is you will be in Macrovision hell.

I agree -- even if Macrovision isn't a problem, every combo set I've known, eventually the VCR died, rendering the TV inoperable. It can't function by itself, so you end up with two useless items that need to be replaced (instead of one). Better to get separate units. Maybe a little more expensive, but in the long run it is worth it.
