No, it is PAL. Zoke Culture released it, they are in Mainland China where they often use PAL, not Hong Kong where they use NTSC. The Hong Kong special edition released by Edko is different.

I don't have 30 posts yet so I can't post a link, but there is a blog all about Asian Special Edition DVDs called beautifulthingsinlife that has some pictures of it. They also sell it on DVD Asian and HK Flix as well.

meh, i dunno. some people are touchy. i didnt mean anything by it. but but but! hkflix lists that as ntsc r3. i think ive read that it is actually r0 though. so would you double check if it is the exact same as listed on hkflix (ntsc r3)? if it is and if the set is mint, im interested.

It is the same set at the one on HKFlix. There was only one wooden box set made, and it was done by Zoke. When I tested an open copy a few years ago, it was Region 0 PAL. I don't see where HKFlix has it listed as R3 NTSC, I only saw where they listed that the 3rd disc was PAL, but I am pretty sure they all are PAL. It is definitely the same as the set on HKFlix, but I'd be glad to test the discs to see what region they are.

i originally figured it was the same. how many house of flying daggers wooden boxes could there be right? but i thought maybe yours is from the uk or something? in any case, mystery solved!

hindolio and HKFlix were right, I tested the discs and 1 & 2 are all region, disc 3 is PAL and disc 4 is the soundtrack CD so coding isn't an issue.
