Re: Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part VI

That code was strange, I actually received 2 emails, 1 showing dvd's at 70% off when you purchase 1 (drama dvd) plus shipping but it would only let me purchase 8 and it would revert further dvd's to the $7.95 deal.

The second was the dvds at $7.50 with free shipping with 1 at regular price. I checked it in my cart and it would let me buy up to 20.

Re: Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part VI

Got an email for a BOGO deal.
20100513T1D

However, bad seems to be turning to worst for getting better deals at CH.
Not only is there still no free s/h to combine with the bogo, but for the first time that I can ever remember, it appears that Blu-rays don't even count as a qualifier, let alone as a freebie.

Why do we stay and still buy stuff from them? Is it just an addiction?

Earlier this year blu-rays counted as a qualifier for B1G1, not for this code though, 20100513T1D.

Maybe a long, long time ago... maybe when CH first started selling Blu-rays... but I don't honestly remember there ever being a case when Blu-ray didn't qualify as the B1 in a Bogo code.
SIGH!... a new low for CH for sure.
...and I still wait to see if the 'Blu-ray only' club ever materializes... the furure looks bleak.

Canada has had a CH blu ray for some years now, I can't figure out why the US doesn't.

Re: Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part VI

Thanks for the heads up, CalebAndCo. Some interesting titles there, and it's live on my new account.

Am I missing something, or are they no longer telling you how many fulfillments a set title is elligible for before checkout? I know it's long been one fulfillment credit per $20 in purchase price as a general rule--but since there have been exceptions, it'd be very nice to have this information post up front.

Also, I'm assuming no one is getting any other coupons to stack with hits offer? TIA.

^No... you're not missing something. It appears you're no longer told how many fulfillments a title earns. You have to wait until it "posts" to find out...

However, the 1 fulfillment per $19.95 is still the rule. A $40 (I think $39.95 also counts) title counts as 2, $60 as 3.

$19.95 counts as one fulfillment. However there is no guarantee how many fulfillments are counted by titles over $19.95. At that point it varies by title not price. Which is probably why they don't tell you in advance of sending in the order anymore.

If CH wants to take 60% off on some sets AND come to their senses and do free shipping, then I'll buy something.

Really? I've cycled memberships for ten years now, and haven't seen this...are there any other threads posts discussing this? I figured you could count on >=$39.95 charges counting for 2 and >=$59.95 charges counting for three... TIA

Re: Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part VI

I remember from last year that titles had to be $50 to count as 2 commitments.
Beyond that I can not remember.
I did find some information from the OLD FAQ thread, that states...
Do higher priced titles count as more than one fulfillment selection?
If you pay $50 - $89.99 for a title (before shipping costs) it counts as two fulfillment purchases, $90 - $149.99 counts as three, $150 and over counts as four.
However, that info is very old, and I'm not sure what has changed.
Oddly enough, this info used to be on the website, but now it's gone and can't be found.
CH loves to keep things as vague as possible a lot of times, this way they can not be held responsible when a customer claims fraud.
The best advice I can think of, is if you want to purchase a particular selection, and want to know if it counts as more than 1 commitment, try calling customer service and ask before placing the order.

yes there is something on it from their own site...

"Each DVD you buy priced $19.95 or higher counts as one unit toward fulfilling your purchase commitment. Certain higher-priced selections may count as more than one unit and we'll always let you know when they do."

As I read it, the only certainty is the one unit for $19.95 and higher. After that the operative word is "may".

Thanks. I logged in, and see that now under "help", "fulfilling my commitment".

Naturally, NOTHING indicates when a selection counts for more than one. That's unacceptable, and a major step back for CH. Even if I could reach someone by phone during this weekend special, I wouldn't trust their oral advice as reliable. And frankly, we shouldn't have to bother.

Ah well. One more reason this membership will likely be my last.

Re: Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part VI

Not sure how much of a deal it is to some but you can combine the Dads and Grad Sale with the b1g1. You just have to have two regular priced DVD's and include one movie from the Dads and Grad Sale and pay the "sale" price listed like The Spirit is only $4.48 when included with the b1g1.

Re: Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part VI

Can anyone remember if there has been a free shipping deal since CH made the big switch? I keep hanging on to the hope that I'll be able to use a B1G1 code with free shipping one of these days. But like most of you, I have a sinking feeling that we've seen the last of the days when CH was something of a good deal.

Re: Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part VI

I vaguely remember one free shipping promo, but there was no bogo to stack with it.
Every Monday now they have free shipping for one category of movies (IE: drama), however I haven't come across there being a bogo code at the same time.
Just like there is the bogo this weekend only, but by the time Monday roles around, it will be dead.
