3 Blu-Rays for $60

My banner today says 3 Blu-rays for $60. Not really much of a deal…anyone get it to stack with a code and make it better?

Wow, what a GREAT deal. :sarcasm:

Now if it was like, any 5 for $60, we'd be talking....I'd order 10....but $20 apiece is no better than Amazon on the majority of their titles....

Re: 3 Blu-Rays for $60

Almost $67 after shipping. Terrible deal. The only way I see this being useful at all is if a B1G1 were to appear that would stack with it. Even then it would only be a marginal deal unless you needed to fulfill.

My limit is $15 for a Blu-Ray title...this is just out of reach!

This deal stacks with 801490 which is a BOGO (no free shipping, though). Got 3 BDs and 3 SDs (plus another free SD with Funcash) for $75. $12.50 a disc!

Re: 3 Blu-Rays for $60

Sorry, but, you can't do the math that way.

You got 4 DVDs for $4.80 each, and 3 Blu-rays for $18.60 each.

Nonsense. It's the "new" math. :)

Re: 3 Blu-Rays for $60

So there's a "set" way I have to do my math? I can't decide that I paid $12.50 per disc? Or maybe even $15 per BD and $10 per SD? (BTW, I wasn't counting one of the SDs since it was free because of funcash so your math is technically wrong, too) I was just trying to show everybody who wanted to know that this deal can stack with the BOGO code. May I have a formula for the "correct" way to do my math next time?

If you bought a new car for 40K and they gave you a free cup of coffee, would you tell people that you got them both for 20K each?

:)

Wow. Punit's excellent example aside, you really should take a step back. Yes, I'm sorry to break it to you, but your math is wrong. And if you had posted the full details of your purchase, my math would have been more accurate. So here's what I'm going to guess:

3 for $60 + shipping = $60 + $2.99 + $1.99*5
+ $2.99 FC purchase (this must be a fulfilled account, or you wouldn't have enough FC to make it worthwhile to use)
= $75.93 for 3 Blu-rays and 4 DVDs
A DVD has a replacement value of $4.80 through CH. You can cycle accounts in the standard way and get them for $4.80. Attempt to debate this if you wish, but you'll be ignored by most people. In any case, a DVD is worth less than a Blu-ray by any measuring stick. You're certainly free to look at it (i.e., justify it to yourself) any way you like, but that won't change the facts. Just because the Earth feels flat doesn't make it so.

As punit implied, you wouldn't order a $59.97+7.99 Alfred Hitchcock box set and get a free copy of WarGames 2 using a B1G1FS code, and then say you paid $34 for each item. It's a simplistic, naive, and, frankly, idiotic way of looking at the math.

So, your Blu-ray price is ($75.93-$4.80*4)/3 = $18.91 each.

If you used this to cycle an account, then you could have gotten:

6 DVDs at enrollment: $2.94
+ 3 for $60 + shipping = $60 + $2.99 + $1.99*5
(no FC purchase, since you wouldn't have enough FC$)
= $75.88 for 3 Blu-rays and 9 DVDs

So, your Blu-ray price would be ($75.88-$4.80*9)/3 = $10.89 each.

However, a B1G1FS sale on Blu-rays would obviously be much better:
Using $26.21 Blu-rays as a worst-case:

6 DVDs at enrollment: $2.94
+ $26.21*3 for 6 Blu-rays
(no FC purchase, since you wouldn't have enough FC$)
= $81.57 for 6 Blu-rays and 6 DVDs

So, your Blu-ray price would be ($81.57-$4.80*6)/6 = $8.80 each.
Without free shipping: $10.95 each.

Disclaimer: That was a lot of math that I don't feel like double-checking. Any corrections will be appreciated.

End result:
You can either be patient and save money, or you can use this 3/$60 code to get some Blu-rays now, and pay a lot more for them. If time has that much value to you, you come out ahead.

But don't bother to say things like "$12.50 per disc," as if that has meaning to someone besides yourself.

If you'd like more formulas, feel free to ask.

Well said! Blu-ray Discs and DVDs are no more equal than TV sets and single DVDs.

Cheato, It is nice that I don't have to do the arithmetic here anymore!

Cheato: I've been out of this game for several years, but need to come back up to speed now that CH is getting more into BR. Does the $4.80 imply cycling accounts with the following criteria?

Enrollment:
six for .49 with free shipping
seventh for 9.95 with free shipping
two fulfillments at 19.95 plus two free with free shipping (i.e. B1G1FS offer code)

Thanks.

I understand and I agree with you on most points. However NOT EVERY DVD has a value of 4.80. Some SE's and 2D's that have single DVD counterparts are not 19.95 for fulfillment and thus would raise the cost per disc a bit (Unless you attributed 4.80 to every enrollment title and 19.95 fulfillment. Thus a 21.95 fulfillment would be 6.80 -- or 5.80 for the two split between the B1 and G1 --which is what I do --).

Re: 3 Blu-Rays for $60

^ Point noted. I don't do what you do, though. I usually get the higher-priced items as enrollments when they become available, or just wait for them to come down in price. I just picked up a bunch of $24.95/$22.95 DVDs in my latest enrollment. For ones that never become available, I get them as the G1F with a box set. Still waiting for a good opportunity to pick up Hulk, for example.
