I logged in today and have an extra order showing in my account too.
The order is for Beetlejuice and Independence Day and it's a bill me order.

They already have a charge of 29.96 on my account and neither are showing as a freebie. ID4 shows as processing and Beetlejuice says Scheduled to Ship.

I never placed an order for just those 2 so I'm not sure what happened there but looks like it's time click contact us.

Based on anyone actual experience with a past BOGO sale, what happens if the free item ships but the purchased item stays on backorder? My Close Encounters freebie has shipped without a charge but the OOP Batman Anthology is still on backorder.

If, for some reason, the one you are supposed to buy to get the free one stays on backorder and is eventually deleted from the site, you don't have to pay anything and you get the free one, well, for free.

GenPion 08-03-08 07:56 AM

I've received most (if not all) of my freebies. Now I just have to wait for the Pre-Order ones to arrive over the next several weeks.

They have sure been messing up lately. I placed an order 7/25 for 7 dvds, including 6 Blu-rays (three for free), for $82.34. The entire order was duplicated on 7/30 with a new order number, and a total price of $166.94! I checked my credit card, and on 8/1 they put through charges of approximately $105 and $32 (some items are pre-orders). What a hassle.

Yep, that's what they did to me a couple months ago. This time around I got smart and placed several different orders. So far they only screwed up one. So I only have to deal with one little mistake instead of wht you are going through now.
I am still... STILL messing with that order from 2-3 months ago! Definately NOT worth the hassle. ...and no, I never got it fixed. They were complete A-holes about it. I basically have to wait for them to trickle in one at a time and mark them return to sender. Then you can imagine how long it takes to get the credit back.
Good luck...

The Trickle Effect

I too am marking items return to sender from orders they messed up from the Feb B1G1. I learned that if I can order only 1 or 2 orders during the mega sales, they usually get those right. My advice? Buy a good glue gun. heh heh heh.

SMART-ASS 08-04-08 12:55 AM

Super Glue GEL works awesome! Dries in like 10 seconds and sealed nice and tight. :)

Preterite 08-04-08 01:54 AM

The order I placed on 7/25 is still processing. And the Dark City Blu-Ray I pre-ordered during the last B1G1 offer on 6/22 is listed as backordered. What a joke.

Gorilla Glue works good as well. Also, patience using a long screw-driver to open the box helps as well - tends to not rip the box & saves your fingers.

CH screw-ups & their fraudulent re-input orders (not honoring original order terms) are now beyond legendary. Seems to me, with all of their "re-engineered" orders (most charged to CCs I'm sure), that CH should be facing stiff fines for CC fraud/abuse.

I called customer service and the person said they had no record in their system for my first order (7/25), even though I can clearly see it in my order history. She said there was nothing I could do but return the titles for my money back. Checked my credit card and sure enough, I was never charged for the first order, only the more than double priced second order. Last effort to get my original deal...I e-mailed customer service as folllows:
I'm very disappointed in your web-site. I placed this order on 7/25 for a total of $82.34. The exact same titles were set up as an order (not by me) five days later (7/30); order number xxxxxxxxxxxxxx, except the total price was $166.94. My credit card has already been charged $32.95 and $105.79 for this duplicate order. Don't know why you are not honoring my original order price (I called customer service and they said they have no record of the order, yet I still see it in my order history). Please honor your original stated price for these titles...how can I order anything from you in the future if you arbitrarily change the prices and offers.

If it gets to the point of necessarily having to do so, what DOES usually get the job done, is an extensive (but not too extensive) written letter AND dulicate email stating the exact problem in detail (the more details the better), being very stern but not insulting or mean. Within this letter mention how you will have the BBB open an investigation in the matter AND send a letter to the Attorney General IF they do not give you your proper orders and prices. Everytime I have done this, wether it be with a car dealership, telephone company, or Columbia House... I have always gotten my way. Of course you need to be "right" to start with. It does not work if you are trying to get away with a "fast one". I always wait till it's absolutely necessary to due this too. Of course sometimes it is just a lot easier to mark 'return to sender' and try again later, especially with CH. :)

I really can't fathom how they are getting away with this stuff. Could there be something in the membership agreement that allows them to do it? I realy will be just a matter of time I think before they get the hammer thrown down on them.

Is Batman Begins listed as back ordered for everyone?

XavierMike 08-05-08 09:02 AM

I ordered Dark City, Transporter 1-2, and 28 Days Later. All but Dark City shipped on 7/30, but I haven't recieved them yet. :( If I don't get them by Thursday, I'll have to call them. And Dark City has been processing for a week...

My theory? Hmmm, on second thought ... I don't think I should post it here. Don't want loopholes closed. Nevermind. I'm having WAY too much fun with this stuff.

SMART-ASS 08-05-08 08:54 PM

loopholes???

butterbean 08-05-08 09:31 PM

so get a load of this. I check my mail today and sure enough the package arrived...but OPENED and The Bank job was gone. One flew over cuckoo's nest was there and all the paper crap they send didnt look touched. Called the local post office and they didnt seem to care. I called CH today and they will ship a new one within 24 hrs. I wonder who is enjoying the bank job right now

Same with me.

smashthesymbols 08-06-08 08:01 PM

The Harold and Kumar Blu-Rays are off backorder. My copy of Guantanamo shipped today, and White Castle's status has switched back over to processing.
