If anyone cares, 801490 (B1G1) works, I just used it to pre-order the Dark City Director's Cut.

For the purpose of clarification, I was referring to BobO'Link's post. Peep's use of "mother" was obviously correct.

On another note that has as much to do with CH, DVDs, and sales offer codes as the Mastery of the English Language posts - my dog likes to lick himself.

It does indeed. Thanks for bringing this discussion back on track.

Edit: 801586 and 805798 are also B1G1F and active.

you are asking way too much. it's awesome enough that jester gives us all these codes and now you want him to have to put items in his cart to see if the code will work with blu-ray?? fuck that shit.

Ya, he's nice enough to provide the codes. The least you can do is log into your account and test the codes yourself. He's already done the hard part for you.

Poor writing in DVD Talk's reviews annoys me. I wish the site would hire a copy editor.

About Blu-Ray and the sale codes, I have an idea:
Stop asking about it and stop talking about it (until there's something worth talking about).

Believe me, there are enough people that are interested that if a sale code suddenly allows a Blu-Ray disc free, somebody will post about it. I predict a separate thread with a dozen posts in the first hour. So there is no need to post in this thread the question of whether the codes work with Blu-Ray (they do, but you can't get 1 free, so stop asking it altogether), or the answer/assumption/statement that they don't work. Right now, I feel like I'm driving with a bunch of kids in the backseat asking "do they work yet? do they work yet? do they work yet?"

If you order one using a B1G1 code, you can get 1 free DVD. Not one free Blu-Ray. Not 1 free HD-DVD. Not 1 free set. And not 1 free odd "special priced item." One free DVD. In addition to this general policy, the terms of the sale codes almost always clearly state this. It really is that simple.

If CH has a special sale with a banner that allows a free Blu-Ray, then bully for you. You can usually combine banners with sale codes, so combine away.

And don't expect thejester to post new codes here every time you want one. Last I checked, I wasn't paying him for the service (don't go getting any ideas, thejester!), and I doubt you were, either. Do your own legwork--try old codes and see if they work--or be patient (and always polite and grateful that thejester goes out of his way to help all of us). There's no need to ask for codes. I seriously doubt thejester sees a request for new codes and thinks "hey, there's an idea...it's a good thing I visited the forums today, or I never would have thought of that."

The Taking of Pelham One Two Three 00072603W $2.65

George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead (Pre-Order) 04902904W $19.95

I used the code 806153 and picked up 2 HD Titles (as part of ongoing B1G1 HD clearance sale) along with 8 other cheap titles for $2.65 each. (2/3 of $7.95).

Now the free HD title has disappeared from my order.

I sent an email to them

I just happen to check the status of my order and find that one HD DVD (Children of Men - Combo) missing from the order.

I picked up 2 HD titles as part of the ongoing B1G1 HD DVD free offer. And, I received a confirmation mail too with all the selected titles.

Could you please take care of it?

Thanks & Regards

This is the reply i got,

We truly regret any inconvenience you have experienced.

Please be informed that Blue-Ray or HD DVD Discs Cannot be taken as enrollment selections, sponsor rewards, or with certs. They will count as the qualifier for an offer, but cannot be taken as the discounted part of an offer (ex. 60% off / Free)

We wish to inform you that the following selection was previously canceled:
CHILDR MENHDDV

If you wish to order a replacement, please provide the title and selection number of each item you would like.

If we may be of further service, please contact us at http://www.columbiahouse.com.

Sincerely,
Customer Service
----------------------------------------------------

I recently used the Buy2 Get1 Bluray offer along with a B1G1 FS sale code and didnt had any issue.

Though i cannot really complain ($2.65 for other 8 titles is still a good deal), i cannot believe that they allow you to place an order and then edit your order without your consent. I am thinking of canceling the entire order.

That sounds like a processing mistake. Your best bet is to call them and explain the sequence--that the offer you used was the banner B1G1 HD-DVD offer, and therefore it CAN be taken as a "discounted part of the offer," since that was the offer itself.

If Children of Men is no longer available, they seem to be willing to let you have a different one for free.

Things drop in and out of availability all the time. I have had maybe 5 things go out of the catalog after I had ordered them, so the orders were canceled and I didn't get them. The most disappointing was the Space:1999 Megaset.

^Or just get "Superman Returns" (it's the WS 1 disk version), the current deal of the day for $5.95, and get "Spider-Man 2 SE" (also WS) free (don't forget to add it to your cart as this is not an automatic add). Use code 804039 and get free shipping making the final cost $2.98 each (+ tax for those less fortunate).

So WHY does it have to be Spiderman 2 ??? I'm confused on what the "deal" is. How could it be free when the deal is b1+60%off ???

It's one of the current "features". You just get a free Spider-Man 2 dvd with your purchase of select action titles. They must have a few dozen cases of SM2 sitting in the warehouse they want to move.

You'd think this Spiderman 2 deal would pushed a bit more. I get CH e-mails all the time with their current sale/deal but haven't seen this (of course it may still come). According to DVD Spot, Spiderman 2 is one of the most 20 heavily owned titles, so they may have a hard time finding folks willing to place an order just to get it.
