Columbia House E-Mail: "Because You Asked For It"

This made me chuckle. I just got an e-mail from Columbia House advertising some deals and one of them is called "Because You Asked For It: Full Screen Editions Best Sellers"

Um, please reply if you asked for this.

FULL SCREEN

I certainly didn't ask for it.

I also get phone calls occasionally where they say, "I have just taken the time to review your past purchases, and based on those purchases, I believe you would thoroughly enjoy [fill in crappy Vin Diesel movie here]."

Ummm... the majority of my buying habits at columbia house consist Harold Lloyd, W.C. Fields, and Chaplin. Vin Diesel is the next Chaplin? Provocative!

Oh, I'll bet plenty of people asked for it, the same ones who pay $24.99 for The Lake House: "How come mah TV has them black bars? I wanna see the movie fill the whole screen."

Yep... the same ones who purchase a wide screen TV and set it to stretch a 4x3 image to the sides. Most of 'em don't even realize, or care, that the image looks squat! Ahhhh... the unwashed masses!
