bill me option still running

i got saving code that give you 6 free dvds plus other 2 dvds like next 2 year n 9.95 i guess so saving code is 41Q

if you want bill me option then pick first 6 dvds that .49 then 1 more dvd up to 7 dvds then check out then you will see bill me option then they will give you to choose last offer so you will have 8 dvds. i just did recently so i can't wait to receive welcome package. i had last time was about 3 or 4 years ago so i think im gonna give Columbia House a chance so i don't think ppl reading their term that's why Columbia House gonna be strict business about what ppl do. so im gonna be wise about picking dvds from Columbia House when it gonna be regular prices. so my sister had columbia house for long time so her account still good n i get mine because i got bill plm that's why im doing fine so now i can be more careful next time.

I would imagine calling them about sending me the wrong DVD is pretty easy? I ordered out of order and they sent me lampoon's gold diggers unrated instead. First time I have ever had them mess up my order.

Sometimes it can be difficult to get through on the phone. In the past it helped to choose the "place an order" option from the phone menu tree.

If you do have difficulty in getting through on the phone, you could try e-mail: [email protected]

Getting the wrong DVD replaced should be routine. They will either tell you to throw it out and send you the correct one, or they will send you a return label so that you can mail the wrong disc back while they send the correct one.

^ Pretty much impossible to predict... I'm surprised that they don't carry the SE. It's on my wishlist as well but I'm hoping for a good B&M deal around the holidays at this point.

I had a CH account, fulfilled and closed. Now I have re-applied and been accepted again. Can I get this new acct# tied to my old username or will I have to create a new username to purchase online?

^ You will need to create a new username for each account that you open. Most of us just number them: username1, username2... You can use the same e-mail, password, mailing address, credit card number, and so forth. But the username must be unique.

I applied for my first account online Monday afternoon and it got accepted on Thursday. I applied for a second account online Monday night and it has not yet been approved. Should I assume the second application has been "lost." Also, is it better to apply online for one and over the phone for the second?

When I applied for my second account I did not receive a welcome email, but a few days later I did get an email stating that my shipment was out of stock, came as a suprise to me. So, just because a welcome email doesn't come doesn't mean it wasn't approved.

^Yes, it is best to wait a couple of weeks before giving up on an application. Also, it is best to wait a few days between multiple applications. Anecdotal evidence suggests that applications submitted in rapid succession have a greater tendency to get "lost".

After the first few accounts, it can get quite difficult to get new ones opened, for reasons that remain mysterious. But there are those of us who have had dozens of accounts before and are still able to open a new one from time to time. There are folks here who have had more than a hundred accounts.

More zany Columbia House stuff...

I order 'We are Marshall' as a pre-order and use a B1G1 code to get 'The Departed' for free. The code offered free s/h with 3 titles so I throw in 'Charlie & the Chocolate Factory' (the deal of the day at $6.95) and my order looks great when I placed it.

I get a note this week in the mail that they've shipped my order--but the invoice and my order history says Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is $19.95 and while the Departed is free. We are Marshall is still pending at $19.95!

I know alot of times the response to something like this is that it's normal, but this seems very odd... Anyone else have this experience? Thought I'd check before I call/e-mail them.

That's weird. I'd call them. Perhaps the pre-order thing screwed things up. Normally you wouldn't get the free title (from pre-ordering We Are Marshall) until closer to WAM's release date, leaving Charlie as the only title that should be shipping before September. You should get that for the $6.95 price since it's the DOTD and doesn't require any other purchases to qualify for that low price. Since I've never ordered a DOTD item before, I don't know if they frequently (and by a mistake or glitch) put the regular price in the shipping notice e-mail. Maybe someone else can help, but I'd be on the horn at this point -- especially if they had already charged my card for $19.95.

On 7/3 I ordered the following:

Monster Squad (pre-order)
300: 2-disc WS SE (pre-order)
Casino Royale

I used a "B1G1 w/ free shipping when you buy 3 or more" promo code that I found here on DVDTalk (thanks a lot, BTW). As of today I am still waiting on what I ordered. I understand that 300 and MS are pre-orders, but shouldn's Casino Royale have shipped by now? In my "recent orders" list it shows Casino Royale's status as "awaiting credit approval." It has said this since I ordered on 7/3. I have used this credit card for all of my orders at CH over that past year w/o issue until now. Could the hold-up be that they are waiting until both pre-orders are available to actually ship all three DVDs in one shipment or should I be on the phone w/ a CSR explaining the situation? I figured with MS coming out today that the they might at least ship 2/3 of what I ordered and send 300 separately, but it doesn't appear to look that way.

Sorry if this has been covered before but I don't use my CH account as often as most of you do so I'm still kind of a "newb" to the CH process.

CH will ship once the titles are available, meaning you will probably get this in different shipments. This is a pretty simple one to figure out though:

Monster Squad is out today. If you haven't already been charged for that, you should be getting charged soon (and it will ship soon as well). I believe that was only $16.95.

Since, out of the two pre-ordered titles in you got, 300 is the one that costs enough ($19.95+) to qualify you for a free title of equal or lesser value (Casino Royale), then you won't get Casino Royale until they've charged you for 300. Since 300 is not out til 7/31, you won't get charged until a few days before that (or the same day or later, depending on how crazy CH decides to be). You will get both of those around the same time.

Does that make sense?

It is common for Columbia House to hold the freebie until the release of a paired pre-order, although they don't always do this. And when they do hold the freebie, the account is marked "awaiting credit approval", which has nothing to do with actual credit approval. And, since account status updates are often slow to be made, you might even get your DVDs before the "awaiting credit approval" designation goes away.

So, your orders appear to be proceeding normally; don't fret over your on-line account status. It's just normal CH weirdness.

Yes, that makes sense. I figured it was something along those lines but your breakdown really clarified the situation for me.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate your help.

This might be a stupid question, but I looked other places and I can't find it.

Does CH usually send out DVDs with slipcovers when available?

Got a question. I just received my enrollment package. Doesn't the Jaws 30th Anniversary edition come with a slipcover and booklet??? I just got the case, no slipcover or booklet. I was under the impression that those two things came with it, that's why I ordered it. Can I request the slipcover and booklet from ch?

^ It originally did and you can still find them occasionally in B&M's that way (like Borders, for instance), but most places that rotate stock a lot (Target, Wal-Mart, etc.) just have the keepcase 2-disc sans the extra stuff, which is a later pressing. That packaging was sort of limited edition though it was never advertised as such to my knowledge. I can almost guarantee you will have no luck getting a booklet & slipcase from CH if you ask them for it. You may not even get a response. It appears they stock the later pressing of it now and would have no means to get you what you're asking for.

That happened to me a while back. Just go to one of the retail stores, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc., buy the one with the correct packaging (they all have the same UPC), and return the one from CH to the store. As long as the DVD is still new and sealed, you should be OK.
