I'm still trying to figure out under what circumstances I'd buy a title at 50% off. If I'm getting DVDs for under $6 apiece, and if the cheapest "sale" price is $7.95, it seems better to NOT do this and get the same title as part of an enrollment/fulfillment.
What am I missing?

I placed an order for a box set last week and was $.79 short of hitting the $30 threshold for an additional $5 off. It made sense in that situation. Also when you need a 3rd title for free shipping.

I still don't get it -- the math isn't working for me. The $6 price includes s&h, so even if a title had free shipping, it'd still have to be less than $6 to be worth it. Maybe you can give me an example?

Can you give a specific example where adding a 50% off DVD helps the bottom line? I'd honestly like to see it, because I don't understand how this is a "deal".

Or, like the earlier poster said, if you need a little to qualify for the 5$ webdvd coupon, you can then subtract that 5$ from that disc (it would be 2.95 essentially).
I think thats what they meant.

The Third Man: The Criterion Collection $34.95 -> $20.97
The Red Shoes : The Criterion Collection $34.95 -> $20.97
The Ruling Class: The Criterion Collection $34.95 -> $20.97
Hamlet : The Criterion Collection $22.95 -> $12.97
But don't you have to order something at least as expensive to get the discounted price on the Criterions? If you need 2 fulfillments, I could see something >= $34.95 plus a discounted $20.97 CC, but to make sense wouldn't you also have to ensure that the 2 DVDs (the "something" and the CC) aren't so much cheaper elsewhere that it makes sense to get them from someplace like DDD and get two $19.95 DVDs from CH instead?
8 1/2: The Criterion Collection (DVDPlanet = $25.97)
Hearts & Minds: The Criterion Collection (DVDPlanet = $25.97)
The Third Man: The Criterion Collection (DVDPlanet = $25.97)
The Red Shoes : The Criterion Collection (DVDPlanet = $25.97)
The Ruling Class: The Criterion Collection (DVDPlanet = $25.97)
Hamlet : The Criterion Collection (DDD = $21.59)
So let's say you throw two $34.95 CC DVDs in your cart at CH. That's come to $34.95 + 20.97 = $55.92 plus s/h (unless you've got a code), but I could get the same two from DVDPlanet for $51.94. I guess the idea here is that you're only paying $4 more from CH than from another etailer, and it lets you close out your account without getting screwed on a $19.95 purchase? Is that the gist?

Without a 3rd title
19.95+2.99 s/h
19.95+1.99 s/h
-5.00 webdvd discount
total of $39.88
With a 3rd title
19.95
19.95
7.95
-5.00 webdvd discount
total of $42.85
therefore that 3rd title has an end cost of $2.97
This doesnt include the shipping charges if you were to order box sets either. In those cases it would actually make the entire order cheaper if you add a 3rd title. Whenever they run the b1g1 promotions I always order box sets and 14.95 and 9.95 titles. Ordering those titles would be inefficient at any other time.

Dallas Season 4 $29.96(reg price of $39.96)
The Third Man Criterion FREE
MacGyver Season 4 $29.21(reg price of $39.96)
The Ruling Class Criterion FREE
Total price of $54.17 for two box sets and two criterions and it completed my obligation on that account. If you account for the commitments it brings the total down to $30.99

But if you are saving 2.99-9.99 shipping by ordering the 7.95 dvd, you have to factor that in somewhere.

I wouldn't have taken advantage of this type of offer before, but with problems getting new applications approved, and not wanting to wait for some titles - it still turns out to be cheaper than than any other onliine or B&M option

I got that email as well..
I wonder if the B1G1 then rest 50% is a better deal in the end than the B1 get rest 2/3 off.
I guess it works if you are buying alot of titles..but its like..how many titles would you need to break even.

I have been trying to fulfill one of my accounts with 3 titles to get the free shipping and the free shipping is not showing up for me. It has always worked before, am I doing something wrong or missing something?
Thanks
Thanks
