I ordered the wrong DVD as a freebie...

I placed an order a couple of nights ago, using the B1G1F deal. I ordered "Red Eye" as the free DVD, but I accidentally picked the full screen version. I realized my mistake within a minute of placing the order. It was too late at night to call customer service, so I sent them an e-mail asking if they could change it to the widescreen version.

I received an e-mail reply stating that my order was already being processed, but that I could return the unopened selection at my own expense. They also put a replacement order on my account, charging me the full price (including shipping and tax) for the widescreen DVD.

Will I be able to return the full screen DVD with the widescreen DVD invoice, and get my money back? It seems like that's what they want me to do, but I can imagine them giving me a hard time about it.

Has anybody gone through this before? Thanks for any help/advice.

You might be able to take it to your local Wal-Mart or Best Buy and just do an exchange without receipt. Just say "it was a gift".

Mark REFUSED on the package and let it go back to CH. Then order the correct one that you want.

Except this DVD was a freebie and if he did that he would likely have to pay for a new one.

I doubt it. One call to CH to explain it, and it will be an exchange.

What he said above.

The CH way it's going to take a long time.

In my experience, they charge you full price till they receive the other disc back. Once they have the return they should credit your account for the other one. It's always good to follow up with a simple email checking on the status.

That's not what happened to my Dad last month. He swapped something out that was defective for the SAME title. They charged him full price for the new one, and refunded him for the SALE price he paid for the first one. He called them about it, and they refused to credit him! He even asked for a supervisor, and they wouldn't do it either. I know it makes absolutely no sense, but that's what they did. So he had to dispute the charge on his credit card...
