Fun Cash aint fun!

I have $9 in Fun Cash that I would like to use. So I log into my account and I see that I get free shipping on every DVD that I buy. Except that free shipping does not apply to DVDs bought with funcash so my $9 is really $6. Okay, I'll still take $6 off a DVD that I want.

So I am looking at the 2nd Season of Tales From the Crypt set and think it is a pretty good deal for $23.97 which is the Special Price that requires no additional purchase (list price is $39.90). So I put it in my FunCash cart and the price jumps to $29.96! Huh????

So I can either buy it for $23.97 & get free shipping or buy it for $20.96 and pay $2.99 shipping for a total of $23.95. Wow, a whole 2 cents off!

The funny thing is the other set I am interested in (Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Season 1) has a Special Price of $29.96 and the price does not jump when I put it in my Fun Cash cart.

Does this look like a bug in the web page or is this CH being inconsistent?

It's "normal" for CH. Fun cash is rarely worth anything; unless there is a special promotion where you earn double/triple/bonus funcash on your fulfillment order that is enough to cover a 14.95 or higher DVD. That way, your "free" DVD only costs $3.

Fun Cash purchases are made at the normal selection price, for box sets that is typically 25% off list price (the first price you mention is 40% off list price). This did not used to be the case, but yes, Fun Cash has deteriorated dramatically in value over the years. It's barely worth the trouble any more.

I have over $30 FC in one of my accounts, but can't find anything worth getting with it. Even applying it to the boxsets, after adding the humongous shipping cost and tax, I could get it for about that much anyway somewhere else. I'm thinking of just closing my account and not even using the FC, unless someone's got a good way to spend it.

You could look at picking up a $21.95 title that is not yet available as an enrollment. But you will pay a couple bucks for shipping, and could get it later as an enrollment anyway. So your $22 fun cash will net you about $3 in value.

Transfer your funcash to a ch.com account and use it to reduce the price of boxsets. All boxsets are at least 40% off and shipping is always free.

You could grab a Criterion too. (8 1/2 or Third Man). I doubt they will ever be enrollments.

How long does it take for fun cash orders to be processed?

I had 130 dollars in fun cash and got 6 movies(5 for 22 and another for 20) and it came out to 130. So I didnt have to pay for anything since I get free shipping.

About the same as a normal order. A few days to a week and you should have it.

Yeah, I had 23.00 in funcash which I was trying to figure out how to spend. My fist thought was, hey I'll pick up the three disk Wizard of oz. Well that did not exactly work out. I could only apply 10.00 (as it was a 3 disk set) and after applying the 10.00 in funcash the set ended up being more than it would if I had bought it without using funcash!

I ended up buying the Naked Gun trilogy and the Ghostbusters box set.

Subtotal for the box sets: 12.17. Shipping: 7.98. BLEGH!!!

I didn't think that free shipping applied to DVDs purchased with Fun Cash, at least for me it didn't.

only with a ch.com account (formerly dv2). They have free shipping on everything and some people have successfully managed to transfer their funcash from a regular DVD or TV club account to ch.com accounts.

I don't think too many people has had luck transferring their Funcash to their ch.com accounts. Believe me, I've tried, and it hasn't worked yet.
