CH Codes - some help

I've been sifting thru the threads and have seen this mentioned several times throoughout numerous discussions.

Can someone shed some light for me as this is the first time I've heard of these?

Can these be used at any time to take extra advantage of the deals they have running? From what I've read people have been getting the DVD's cheaper than the site is advertising the deals.

Can any code be used at any time? Or is it certain codes at certain times?

When do these codes have to be entered? Can it be done before checkout to see what you're saving?

Any help/insight would be helpful?

Thanks

Pick 7 enrollment for $17.89 (You have a comitment of two more selection.)
Close it with 809943 pick 3 $19.95 titles one will be free for $41.87
Total comes to $59.76 for a tad under $6 dollars each.

As far as I'm concerned, the best fulfillment code that you can rely on is Buy One Get One Free. Just combine that with the best enrollment code. Both of those codes [when available] can be found by consulting the stickied threads at the top of the Clubs Forum. Nothing terribly difficult about that.

Check this thread for the best enrollment code:
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=355622

Then check this thread for the best fulfillment code:
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=423563

The codes for the best deals can vary according to what dvds you want. A certain code may be better for box sets or standard titles. You'll have to do the math to see what works best for you.

Ok This is a simple Step-by-Step way to get $6 DVDs from CH now.
This is easy to use and doesn?t combine codes nor requires a PSN. PSN is the term CH uses for old accounts YOU had with them.

This is a three-part process enroll-fulfill-close

Part One----Enroll
The best code P7G (No PSN)
1) go to columbiahouse.com
2) enter P7G in the offer code box
3) select 7 (seven) movies
4) enter personal information
5) The total will be $17.89

Part Two----Fulfill
The best SIMPLE code is 809943 (Buy 1 get 1 free) this code will change. You can check the threads that are sticky on the top for the current codes.
1) go to columbiahouse.com/webdvd (this is the $5 dollar off first web order site) Please note you can use the site once for EACH account even if you enrolled online.
2) Enter your account number
3) Enter you zip code
4) You will see your default offer?Ignore that. Click on the LINK ?looking for the offer in your mailing?
5) Enter the code 809943 in the pop-up. Your offer will change to buy 1 get 1 free
6) Select 3 (three) $19.95 movies
7) Your order will look like Movie 1 $14.95, Movie 2 free, and Movie 3 $9.95 or $10.95
8) Find the drop down box to increase your commitments. Select 1 (one) additional commitment.
9) Your order will look like Movie 1 $14.95, Movie 2 free, and Movie 3 $19.95
10) Check out
11) The total will be $41.87

Part Three----Close
1) Call CH to close account
2) You just flipped an account for 10 (ten) selections with a total price of $59.76
3) Not too shabby.

Repeat the process; however, you now have a PSN your old account number.
The best enrollment code becomes LMT and lowers your cost by $5 dollars for each future account.

^ Liked that explanation island007! Using Columbia House is complex for newcomers but that pretty much boils down the process.

Only thing I'd add would be something along the lines of "wait until you receive the DVDs or get an e-mail acceptance with your new account number in it" and that sort of thing. Those new to CH often don't understand that enrolling and fulfilling are two completely separate transactions and can't be done at the same time.

a much better deal is fulfilling with the $9.95 code - 804016.
That saves you about an extra dollar on each dvd by bringing the average to $5.07.

P7G = 17.89
+
Fulfillment One = 13.88
+
Fulfillment Two = 13.88
Total = 45.65 or 5.07 per dvd

Now even that isnt that great of a deal. My last account i got all my dvds at an average of $4.18. The best way to maxamize on savings is to wait for free shipping to come around and top that with a good code.

Some have reported difficulties when something goes wrong with the order. If the order goes through automatically the proper fulfillment credit should be applied. If it has to be adjusted by a CSR problems can develop since many (most?) are unaware of the special deals allowing fulfillments at lower prices than $19.95. When this happens it is best to speak to a "web specialist" so he or she can see the offer as you see it on your account.

Thanks a lot for the steps. Makes new subscribers much more willing to go through it. CH should pay you a commission.

Okay, I have a question. You said "the best SIMPLE code...", does this mean that there are actually better codes to use than the B1G1F codes or did you mean "simple" being the characters in the code? If there are better deals than the B1G1F, would you mind laying that out for those that don't mind going through more steps/hassle?

Thanks!

Edit: also, this may sound stupid, but do they only offer 1-disc versions for the signup process? the 1-disc is the only version i can see when i click on a movie that is normally a 2-disc set.

Thanks lizard, So after i fullfill my account and call to cancel should i ask if my account is fullfilled? cause i heard they charge you extra if you cancel and its not fullfilled. I just don't want to cancel and find out that they think what i got doesn't fullfill my account. Thanks

When your order is processed and shipped the committment status on your account should be updated. If you purchased a pre-order the committment status for that DVD will not change until it is processed and shipped. (We get this question all the time: "I just bought my fulfillment DVDs, why hasn't the committment status changed on my account?" Answer: because it hasn't shipped yet.)

Go to "My Account" and at the bottom of the page, under "Purchase Requirements", you want to see: "You have completed your purchase requirements for the account corresponding to the account number above. You now enjoy our best benefits as a Preferred Member."

If you cancel your account on the phone it is likely that the CSR will mention that you haven't completed your committment if that's what Columbia House records show. (When canceling on the phone and the CSR asks why, tell him or her that you "want to open a new account on-line" or that "you have another open account and only need one". They like those answers.)

When I entered the P7G code, they let you select only certain DVDs. None of those presented interest me or I already have the ones that do. Is there any way to widen the selection to choose from? thanks!

At the top left, there's a search box, use that to find whatever you want. You can find everything that Columbia House offers (well, except for Mature titles), but some will tell you they are for members only, meaning you can't get them as an enrollment.

I'm sorry to have to keep asking, but I was wondering...I did what you suggested. I searched for "Troy" and found two with Brad Pitt. One says "widescreen 2-disc" on the picture but in the description it says 1-disc. should I believe the picture or the description?

You might want to try cross referencing your selections with a data miner spreadsheet. Download a list from http://ruineddaydreams.com/dvdtalk/ and open it in a spreadsheet program. Arrange columns and sort however you like. Then you can check on the titles you want and search and order them by selection number.

The new enrollment website has a bug that lists all titles as widescreen even though some are "Fullscreen". Be aware of this!

When I check jhester's 7-6-05 data miner list I find two entries for Troy:
3299609 Troy (Fullscreen) two disc
3299104 Troy (Widescreen) two disc

Doesn't seem to be a single disc on the list. Why the discrepancy I couldn't say. But I'd be more inclined to trust the data miner than the new enrollment website.

Enrollment codes don't expire but they become inactive when Columbia House decides to change its enrollment offers. They usually last for months or years.

Sale offer codes (the six digit ones that begin with "8") often have an expiration date listed in the details when one enters them.

It would be helpful if you stated which code you are interested in.
