brianglenn 10-18-05 02:23 PM

I received the offer code by snail mail. My account has been open for more than a year.

Not to my knowledge. CH.com accounts don't use sale offers. They just have a lower price schedule and free shipping all the time.

Please share the code with the rest of us. I only got the free shipping on any DVD code (806011), but would like the b1g1 code. Thanks :)

drh4 10-20-05 12:24 PM

806011 but not 807770 works on my fulfilled account.
Neither works on a brand-new unfulfilled TV club account. :(

I was referring to the often mentioned 807770, which does not appear to work on most unfufilled accounts (including my own). I got that code in a mailing, as did some others with fulfilled accounts.

That 807770 doesn't work on my fulfilled account.

To elaborate: Until recently most sale offer codes were account specific (unlike enrollment codes, which work for everyone). Unless the offer code was the current or next one on your account it wouldn't work. Then we discovered that some offer codes seemed to work on most or all accounts. That led to some terrific deals.

807770 appears to be an account specific offer code: unless one has it assigned to one's account it won't work. This may presage a return to account specific codes only or there may continue to be both kinds out there. I am inclined to believe that Columbia House is tightening up on its codes but that remains to be seen.

Even without good offer codes, like BOGOF ("Buy One Get One Free"), the regular membership prices provide DVDs at $5.86, a very good price IMHO. Add in the current "free shipping for three" promotion and prices are even better. So, it isn't the end of the world if good offer codes disappear.

Just wanted to put all this in perspective.

kenbenobi 10-21-05 12:00 PM

I tried to use 807770 over the phone (on my unfulfilled account). Of course they wouldn't let me, HOWEVER she was nice and let me get one FREE title (enrollment selection only, of course) plus $5 off (Webdvd coupon) and free shipping. I got the Batman Anthology, Batman Begins DE, Naked Gun Gift Set, and a Doctor Who title for $71.71 shipped. So that's actually 9 titles, with an average of $7.97. Average it together with my $12.89 enrollment, and I got 16 titles for $84.60 ($5.29 each), and it fulfilled my account! Not bad IMHO! Although I should have taken an $11.97 title instead of Batman DE now that I think about it.

How often do the codes change? I notice there isn't one for BOGOFree and was wondering when it might come around again

dfriedland 10-23-05 05:58 PM

Using code 807770 to fufill my account:

Combined with the free shipping....Yay!!!!

bballing 10-23-05 06:24 PM

dfriedland- How long was that account open?

Jake77444 10-23-05 06:38 PM

dfried consider yourself lucky :P especially seeing you could stack the $5 off for first order on top of that. Wish the code worked for my unfulfilled acct, ill keep trying :)

dfriedland 10-23-05 07:48 PM

I've only had this acoount for about 2 months, but I had no money so I pretty much ignored it.

dfriedland 10-24-05 12:49 PM

When I called up to change my Land of the Dead to the widescreen version, she told me that my buy one get 1 free was still in effect if I wanted anything else. Weird..... I guess it's only on unfuffilled accounts that have had no activity on them.

esc24 10-24-05 02:21 PM

Thats not true. I have an unfulfilled account which has been open since July with no activity, but the code doesn't work for me. Maybe they are just randomly choosing accounts.

Wow, that's a lot of Unrated titles. You do realize they aren't porn, right?

Whatever they are doing, its pissing me off.

Bad.

The triple fun cash codes aren't working anymore :(

I got lucky. I ordered 20 films, which besides Gladiator would all come out to 5.98. 126 dollars in fun cash plus cheap films = good.

sabre 11-05-05 06:02 AM

this lack of codes is annoying. the one benefit is that i have taken advantage of deals elsewhere particularly b&m places where dvds have been super cheap. especially couple of year old titles. All sales i would have given columbiahouse in the past. i have just stopped the cycling of accounts and spending that same money elsewhere.

lizard 11-06-05 09:42 AM

I don't really understand the focus on offer codes. Isn't $5.86 per DVD good enough?

If you can get them for less than that elsewhere then go for it!

Not if with a little research I can get them for $4.86. Or $3.86. Remember, if someone finds a good code he's not just saving himself $10 on a membership, but $10 for everyone who reads the thread as well.

You're right of course, I can't and I won't. But it doesn't mean I'm going to spend more than I have to for a title. If I've saved and average of $1 per title (sometimes less, sometimes much more) by always looking over codes before ordering, then I've saved $500 to $600 over the last 3 years.
