Too Many Failed Apps...Looking For Decent non-PSN Code...

I've had a run of really bad luck with failed apps--six in three months with no successes. I had a similar run last year around this time and then magically was let back in the loop. I've never had more than one membership open at once, but I have opened/closed many accounts very quickly. Next time I'm back in the loop, I will try and limit my memberships to one per month.

But right now I'm hoping that a non-PSN code might help my chances. Does anyone have a decent non-PSN code? Any ideas on how to rectify my good standing with CH?

Thanks!

Have you tried calling in an application?

vcurams2k2 11-09-04 06:07 PM

i agree... if you have failed web applications try phoning in your order with a live CSR. i had the same problems last year during October 2003 to April 2004 with failed web apps. i placed about 6-10 apps over that time frame and decided to finally give in and put in a phone app. it wasnt that bad but it got approved within days. usually i hate talking with a CSR about anything but its worth a shot.

1-888-CHC-DVDS

Press 1 (for english) then 4 to sign up for a new account.

If you get a CSR you can't understand, hang up and call back until you do. I call before 3pm EST and I never have a problem.

Cheers

Really the only downside to doing it over the phone is that you need to wait a few extra days for your enrollment package to arrive to receive your account number and get online and start ordering. That makes it tougher to really crank through the accounts, but I've never had a phone enrollment not go through, and I've had dozens of web apps not go through.

TheDave123 11-10-04 08:38 AM

I'm new to CH, and after 2 failed web apps I went to the phone on Sat., but still have not received a membership #. I've been calling in to find out the status and nothing yet.

However, my CC company says that there is a charge pending for $29 from CH (I believe that's the cost of the enrollment package). I guess this is a good sign I should be hearing something soon.

Has everyone been using the same name, addres, and phone #? I recall reading in another thread that trying to use different info. could cause more problems.

Is it true that a CSR cannot access a new account until a membership # is assigned; meaning they are not able to view application information, just the approved account? Because they tell me that there is no new account at this time....

Just a little nervous!

Thanks for any input.

As for me, Phone App is a great way to go, had a positive 100% successful. Using the same address, same name, maybe I used different credit cards even though it may not matter.
The package usually show up a week later. I didnt call in to get my account # since I always have 1 account open at the same time. I just dont want them to look up my address.
Right now, the best way to do is waiting for your package since the Free shipping will last until January 2005.
As other people said that they receive welcome email with phone-in, I never get any. So it depends.
Hope this might help.

You can also call 1-800-692-1000 for new enrollments. I stopped trying to apply on the web and now only apply over the phone. It takes about five minutes and I usually get my enrollment package in a week.

TheDave123 11-10-04 09:07 AM

fryinpan1....

Do y ou have any open acounts when you apply by phone? If so, do you use the same info.?

And do you just wait for the package, or do you call to see what the status is?

Yes, I have had up to one open account when I apply by the phone. I use the same name, address, and credit card number. The only information I change is the email address.

I called once to get the account number, but they said it was not available, so I just wait a week to receive the package. Then I order my fulfillments, receive them, cancel the account, wait a few days and rejoin.

TheDave123 11-10-04 09:26 AM

Thanks.

I do the same exact thing. Same info., new email. Last time they didn't even ask for my email.

Thanks for the info.

Does anyone have a working code to even phone in with that is the equivalent of 67P where you choose 5 titles for 49cents each and free shipping, buy one more title for $14.95 and you only have an obligation of buying 2 more titles?

The regular deal you get when phoning in with no code would give you a deal that's not nearly as good.

I've already had 6 failed online apps already.

ga_con 11-10-04 10:25 AM

I assum you have a PSN from old accounts. Code 72SD (same as 67P - 6/2) worked for me on 10/25

consoleman 11-10-04 02:00 PM

I tried calling in an app last week using that code. The rep told me she has no record of that code. Maybe it depends on the rep you speak with.

I do get calls from CH reps saying to join by choosing one DVD for $9 and get 4 free. I'm skeptical about those deals so I never join. Unless I can get in again using a code similar to 67P, I won't be joining anytime soon.

Richard Stern 11-10-04 02:39 PM

Use code J1PD for phone apps. It works great.

consoleman 11-10-04 03:49 PM

Thanks, I gave it a try. At first, I gave them your code of J1PD, and the rep told me it's not going through and tried to enroll me using a regular code where I would have to buy 3 instead of only 2. I asked her to try JP1D, which she did but it didn't work, then somehow she was able to put in something else resembling J1PD and was finally able to give me the deal I wanted.

So after months of trying, I'm finally able to get an application in. I did ask her to repeat that code she entered, but she was unable to get it for me. I hope I don't have to go through again just to join again in the future.

Bill Needle 11-10-04 04:40 PM

As a follow up to those changing their email addresses with each app, I don't think there's any reason to need to do that. Unless this gives you the ability to open more than two accounts or something there isn't a need that I know of. I've had nearly 50 accounts in around 2 years all with the same address, phone, CC, and email.

TheDave123 11-11-04 08:59 AM

Well I applied by phone on Sat., and called today (Thursday) for my acct. # and it is not yet available.

Should I consider this another lost applicaiton, or am I not being patient enough? I recall some other threads where people received acct. #s within a day or two.

Are you assigned an acct. # as soon as your first order is shipped, or do they first establish your account then wait to send.

Just trying to figure out if I should be trying again or waiting.

But, my CC has been preapproved for the amount of the purchase. Shouldn't it be in their system at this point then?

Thanks.

I think you mean JP1D ?

I just called to make a new membership using 72sd and lemme tell you. That girl was like ruthless German efficient. She was NOT for small talk and only wanted to get me out of the way to get to the next person in line.

She scared me. And made me feel bad for even wasting her time. I was just trying to be nice...*sniffle*

consoleman 11-11-04 03:53 PM

So did 72sd work? I tried it last week, and it just didn't go through.

I guess I was lucky with the rep I got. She sounded like a kindly older lady who reminds me of my grandma. The only thing was that she kept asking me to speak up because she couldn't hear me. I hate yelling out the information for everyone to hear at work.

I really wish they would fix their online enrollment though. It makes enrolling so much easier.

Those are for successfull web enrollments, where the membership number is sent in a welcome email as soon as it is processed and approved.

Your account number seems to be created as the app is approved and then processed by shipping. When you see a charge show up on your CC it should be created. Sometimes though the customer service rep may not know how/where to look. Some are better, some are worse. Ususally by the time I can get mine over the phone the enrollment DVDs show up a day or two later anyway. The only time I really bother with getting it over the phone any more is if there is a sale about to expire or a pre-order I want to get at the discounted price just before release day.

Is your CC pre-approved the same as billed? For instance, when you check in a hotel they "reserve" an amount on your card without charging it until check out. This may be the same thing. Or as I said above, the rep you spoke with just may not be very good at looking. I have spoken to some who were almost clueless to the fact that they could look them up, then looked for 10 minutes with no success. I have also spoken to others who found them in 20 seconds.

I would NOT enroll again yet. It usually takes at least a week to get your enrollment package using a phone enrollment. Be patient for another week, and if you still can't get any info then I would think about trying again. However, if your CC does show a charge, regardless of whether they can find your membership number over the phone you are in like Flynn, and will get it when your box of new DVDs show up.

which number are you trying?

call the order line, and just ask them for you account number, don't say you want to check on your application or anything like that. They should be able to find it using your zip code and name. Using the same info, including email address, shoudn't be a pproblem, even if you have an account already open.
