Oops, minor typo there. But yes, 1kj is what I actually used along with the other two.

ITALIAN926 10-23-05 10:04 AM

How weird, IKJ is basically the same code.. and I need confirmation of PSN reqirements for the others.

ITALIAN926 10-23-05 10:07 AM

OK, do we need PSN's or not ? Somebody says yes , someone says NO.

Jake77444 10-23-05 12:30 PM

I applyed for another account yesterday with 1kj and didn't need a PSN.

RazorHall 10-23-05 03:08 PM

I just went in a minute ago and tried all three codes again. This time, they DIDN'T ask for a PSN. Guess I shouldn't be surprised, it being a Columbia House website and all...

DVDMagic 10-23-05 07:45 PM

When I bring up the website to start a new account I no longer see an option for any savings code I might have?

Does anyone else have the same problem? Or is it just me?

DVDMagic 10-23-05 08:09 PM

Maybe some could drop a link taking me to the page that would allow me to get 6 for $12.48?

Roy Batty 10-23-05 09:34 PM

Just used 1KJ with no PSN asked for. I did have to pay with a CC. 8 titles for $22.84; not too shabby! FWIW, I used the www.columbiahouse.com URL.

DVDMagic 10-24-05 06:57 AM

Whereabouts is the savings code box located?

I had it before when I tried to create a new account, but when I bring up the site to join as a new member I can't find it anymore.

What does the 1KJ code allow you to do?

Roy Batty 10-24-05 09:13 AM

When I go to the URL above, the first thing I get (since I have not created a cookie with my account login yet) is the screen offering 6 titles for $.49, with the savings code box at the lower right. Are you not getting this? In the past, because of the cookie, I would have to login on a machine I had never used for CH yet to get this screen. Even clearing my cookies on my principal computer would not let me create a new account. HTH.

Go to www. columbiahouse.com (delete the space after www. ) and right in the middle of the page is a box with a "Go" button next to it. Enter the code in the box and press Go.

1kjd, and many similar codes, allow you to buy 6 DVDs for 49¢ plus a bonus for $9.95 that reduces your committment to just two; shipping is free. The total enrollment cost is $12.89 for the seven DVDs. You must eventually purchase two DVDs at $19.95 or higher to fulfill your account.

1kjd, 1kgd, 1kkd do not require a PSN (a number from a previous account) but do require a credit card when used on-line.

The DVD Talk forum automatically captures www. columbiahouse.com (without the space) and links to a referral page. This is why we have to break up columbiahouse.com addresses when we post them here. To get to the main CH home page just type the address in your browser window, don't use links from here.

I just verified that 1kgd and 1kkd do NOT require PSNs. I don't know why others suggested otherwise.

DVDMagic 10-24-05 03:15 PM

It's official! You guys ROCK!

Just entered in the web address and the main page to join opened up and then I entered the savings code and I'm good to go. Fingers crossed that everything works out ok since I already have an account open.

Previously when I typed in the web address it would just take me to the main page from my existing account.

That is likely because you weren't logged out properly. Logging out clears the Columbia House cookie on your computer. Always log out when leaving the site, even if it tells you that you have timed out (back up and log out, or log in again then log out).

Nope.

Did you apply on the web? Or Phone?

i applied on the web.
how long does it usually take? been a while since i applied obviously.. is it about 10 days no?

Big Worms 10-27-05 04:20 PM

The web should only take about a week. I haven't had any success applying over the web since I first signed up. I would recommend you call it in. Pain in the ass, but much faster turn around and they almost never loose those applications.

I gave up on web apps long ago, and have had near 100% success with phone app; until last week....

For some reason, my app from last Tuesday (10 days ago) never hit my credit card. I've been cycling some BMG music accounts at the same time. Hopefully BMG open accounts aren't screwing up my CH-DVD cycling. I just submitted another phone app this Tuesday. Hopefully that one will open before free shipping ends.

Ok this is really weird...I called in today and used 1kj without any problems, but since I had to do something I didn't get a chance to sign up for the membership. Tonight when I called, I tried 1kj again but the CSR said it was an invalid code. Does anyone know any code I can use that doesn't require a PSN? I put in 1kj and it works fine on the website, but I don't want to do it over the internet since I'm assuming my other app got lost through email since it's been almost 2 weeks and no reply from them. I tried the other codes and they were invalid also.

Is that a feature of the software upgrade they did a while back? I wasn't aware of that... I thought the links needed to be modified to become DVDtalk-ified...

There have been reports from others above that the 1k*d codes don't work on the phone anymore. But, last I heard, the other best codes, listed in the first post of this thread, worked fine. If your experience is different, that would be interesting.

I don't recall when DVD Talk started doing this. But it has been some time now since we could post web addresses that start with "www.columbiahouse.com" without them getting captured by the referral filter. Just be aware of it. Perhaps a mod can explain more about it.

I believe LMT doesn't require a CC, but does require a PSN.

Shonn 11-03-05 08:52 PM

Got another code, same as 1KJ, you can use a credit card if you want but it is not required and no psn. 1kx
