To apply for the AOL offers, you gotta adjust your browser security settings to the minimum and make sure you don't have a custom 'hosts' file (if you don't know what that is, you probably don't have one). Now you should be able to sign up for AOL without it taking you right to a software download/order screen.

I see the stamps.com offer is back at freedvd4me under the instant offers category. I remember a lot of people raving about this offer in the past...why is it so good? Any tips about using it?

Does it ever take a few days to be credited for the "Instant Points" offer? I signed up for The Good Book yesterday, and HomeWorks Plus and MP3 Stealth today but they haven't credited my account yet with the points. Any idea?

My experience has found that yes, it sometimes takes 2-3 business days for instant points to credit. After that, I'd email them a confirmation email from the offer.

Don't forget, that people have had their accounts put on hold because they have requested the manual adding of points too often.

Hey - thanks for all of the help folks.

More questions - because this is such a great 'system' that i'm now a bit addicted.

I'm into freedvds.com, and am now curious about freedvd4me.com.

It appears that most, if not all, of the points are through the same companies. If I do these deals within the same two weeks - but through freedvd4me - what problems am I likely to have?

I've set up an account w/ freedvd4me using essentially the same info as i did with freedvds.com - as I assume they are seperate companies.

When i submit for points through fd4me i will use a different email and login.
Should I use different address?
Should I use a different WC number?
What else?

Again, thanks for all of the valuable tips.

Eddie

You can use the exact same information that you used at freedvds.com for freedvd4me.com...you'll get no problems from either of the companies.

However, I'd suggest at least using a different email address and WC number for the offers...not only will it be easier to balance the offers you completed between the 2 sites. But the offer companies won't have as easy an opportunity to hastle you about doing the offer multiple times (especially when you call to cancel).

Nonetheless, I have used both clubs with only a different email address without any problems and have gotten quite a few dvds from each (repeating just about every offer).

Some companies do frown on you doing them at both sites, for instance the company that runs the MaxiCor and Excell offers have made comments to people who call to cancel when they've already joined before. Some, like the New York Times, seem to be pretty good at blocking you from doing them at both (at least I haven't been able to get it to work). Others companies either don't give a crap, or don't track it closely enough to know.

If you get called on it, you can claim ignorance the first time, but keep in mind that the free DVDs sites reserve the right to suspend your account if they get too many complaints from sponsors about you...

Wow, thanks for all the help guys. In one day I got 4825 points and now they're shipping me the Band of Brothers DVD and The Simpsons (S2)! And I was only charged a total of $9. I still have some more sites I'm going to try and sign up for so I can try to get 1 more good DVD.

Next, I'm going to try www.freedvd4me.com, looks about the same.. only bad part is having to keep track of all the meberships you signed up for and cancelling them in time.

I'm not trying to be a d!ck here, but let's try and keep any comments other than reviews/tips/tricks of current offers to a minimum.

Afterall, that's what made the "One & Only Freedvds.com...." thread a pain in the ass to navigate and locate anything worthwhile these days.

Children's Book of the Month Club - I just completed this offer at freedvds.com where it's supposed to be an instant offer. Same rules as the other book clubs...you sign up and cancel in an hour or two. Make sure to delete your credit card info. from "My Account" and I'd suggest changing your address as well after you cancel. I didn't get the points right "instantly", but was credited after I emailed them my confirmation letter 5 days later.

I recommend the Columbia House TV Greats offer...you get a fair amount of points as well as a dvd for $3.99 (I think that's what it costs) with no obligation to buy any more.

I also recommend Casino-On-Net as well as Sportingbet USA. They're huge points and quite easy. Just sign up for a neteller account and use that to deposit the necessary amount of money into your account on either of those sites. You can gamble or just withdraw the cash right away (they'll mail you a check - takes about a week or 2). It does take some time for your points to be credited to your account, but it's an easy way at some big points with hardly any risk.

Finally, I'm a big fan of the Trimlife offers...granted, you have to pay shipping and don't get that money back. Nonetheless, they're super easy to cancel...just reply to your confirmation email and tell them you'd like to cancel. I usually write them a week or two later just to double check that they did indeed cancel my account. The best part is is that these points are instant.

Anyone else have any favorite offers?

So, you get to keep the DVD for $3.99 and just cancel? Or do you actually have to send it back to them?

No, you get to keep the dvd...when they send it to you, they send you a form that you just mail back if you want to cancel. Very easy and from a reputable company.

Just a word of warning: I did the following deals the other day:

24Protect Plus
Essentials
HomeWorks Plus

They were easy to cancel, but when I checked my Paypal account (I used my Paypal debit card on all these), I noticed 3 extra $1 charges on there: 2 for Simple Escapes and 1 for Connections. I never signed up for those. When I called, they said that they had no information in their system that I had purchased those 3 accounts (after checking under my name, address, and CC number), so they couldn't credit me back! Had to dispute it with Paypal which caused them to close the card right away and send me a new one (which took over a week to get). Just a heads-up. Also, has anyone else noticed the lack of a padlock at the bottom of their browsers while signing up for offers on Freedvds.com, meaning that the information transmitted is not secure??

Xpfshost - I get the padlock on certain offers, ones that require the use of CC.

What gift cards has everyone received from the dealpass offers? Which offers are the best? Are there any that should be avoided?

OK...I'm not getting a padlock on most offers. I just checked out these 2:

WinAnyLotto
Valuemax Shopping Service

I've seen this on about 6 others as well. Anyone??

Hmmm, yeah I noticed that some sites don't have the padlock.. makes me kinda suspicious. But I've never heard anyone mention that they've had their CC info stole after using one of the sites so I'll stick with it I guess.

OK, I got an answer from Freedvds.com. Here it is:

"The way our site is the we have a frame in which the offer sites are. There is no need for a secure connection on our site because you are not entering credit card or personal information until you click on an offer. Offers, when you fill out personal information have a secure connection (look for the Verisign symbol on most of the offers' webpages). The reason you do not see the padlock icon and the https:// in the address bar is because our frame covers that. So when you are entering your information to an offer, it is a secure connection, but because it is through a link through our site, our frame covers that up. I hope that makes sense to you. Please let us know if you have any other questions."

What they are saying is that the padlock won't show if the webpage is in a frame. The address will look different as well. For example, if you try the offer for Connections, the address bar will give an address like this:

http://www.freedvds.com/Offer.aspx?OfferID=25&Mode=F

However, if you right-click on the page and choose 'properties' (using IE6), you'll see this address:

https://www.membershipme.com/cic/ent/amz/001/index.asp?

Wella. Mystery solved.

Just a clarification to my last post:

Not ALL the offers are secure as stated on the first page of the other (mostly useless) Freedvds.com FAQ thread. If you're not sure whether an offer is secure, do the following:

Click on the offer, then, in the screen where you input your personal info (address, cc, etc.), right-click anywhere on the background of the page (make sure you're not on an image or anything). Then choose 'properties' (IE6). If the website address in the 'properties' box doesn't start with "HTTPS://", then the website isn't secure and you risk having your confidential information compromised/stolen and you should do that offer understanding the risk involved. Hope this helps.

Has anyone done the gamefly offer at freedvds.com? Is there any way to cancel before they send you a rental?

I did the AOL Broadband deal. What a major pain trying to cancel. Probably the worst I've seen yet. You have to physically call them...and I think they reserve the most obnoxious people to try to hammer/intimidate you into staying a member. I got out of it, although they shipped the modem anyway and I have to 'Return to Sender' it within 10 days or be charged. Apparently the only cancellation excuse they'll accept is if you have to leave the country right away for an extended period of time for an emergency. You've been warned...

On a different note, I ordered the Monty Python boxset last week and it shows that it shipped yesterday. Ordered the Brazil Criterion yesterday as well.
