Black Friday should bring a very good price for these
Not sure if I'm going there for BF. Last year I was so disappointed, was a waste of time and gas.

I saw a new waterfall display with $3 & $5 titles. Some was restock, but there were a few $5 titles that stood out:

Glee season 3
Glee season 4
How I Met Your Mother season 3
How I Met Your Mother season 4
Monk season 4
Monk season 6
Monk season 7
Monk season 8
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
Snowpiercer

Thanks for the recent posts. Popped into my local store and there was new stuff for the first time in a while. Some of the $8/$14 sets. And a few of the $5 ones mentioned by Rexxriot, though I didn't see any Monk. I think Glee was in earlier batches priced higher and I also recall seeing it marked down with clearance stickers (can't recall how much exactly). I did buy the 2 HIMYM seasons.

Nothing else new.
I saw most all of these at the 955 Sepulveda store in Torrance, CA. Also King of Queens S1-9, which I think was $8 also. Nothing that Rexxriot mentioned though, so it must be a different batch.

As for Gilligan's Island, I don't know the terminology, but the S2 had nicer looking packaging, with cardboard surrounding what appeared to be the case with the discs inside, the same as most other WB titles these days. S1 & S3 were in larger cases, with a lot of black plastic showing. Those looked cheaper to me, but they appeared to have more special features. Are those the original releases?

Its not just a repackage, the plastic cases have single sided discs, the cardboard are problematic double sided. Opt for the cheap plastic stack case for the better discs

Came across 3 different volumes of the X-Files: Mythology sets for $5. Had never seen/heard of these before. I can't remember specifically which ones I found, but know this was one of them.

Just out of curiosity, why is Big Lots not relevant anymore? It seems like the content has improved (more theatrical, bigger box office/less DTV, etc.) so what in your opinions has contributed to the decline? Thank you in advance for any helpful opinions.

Small quantity of titles, higher prices, smaller quantity of pieces per title. I've had more then 1 BL manager & ast Manager tell me the co has made a dvd's a very low priority.

Most of the quality overstocks that BL used to get seem to go to oldies.com & Wallymart at higher prices.

I would guess for most here, hardcore DVD collectors, the lack of deeper catalog selections has been a problem. That may be a reflection of the changing release patterns by the main studios as they have licensed out much of their catalogs to smaller independents.

Re: Big Lots Part 11 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

The undesirable archive DVD-R model was developed by Warner to avoid selling much to Big Lots. I have personally still found a lot there. I have recently bought a couple dozen Blu ray there at discount rate and still some DVD that I like.

I went to big lots looking for the Bewitched set in a tin, but they didn't have it. Anyone else see them? I'm wondering what the tin looks like. Does the tin use the same picture they used on the cover of the regular boxed set?

Its blue and has the same picture as cover art season one. They had a couple, I'm guessing its part of their black Friday shipment.

Thanks hasslein! Even though I already own season one, I would still buy the tin version because I am a hopeless collector of all things Bewitched.

Re: Big Lots Part 11 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I went to the Fayetteville Ga store and saw a few things out that no doubt should have been put out for black Friday(black Thursday?) 1 each of Monk, S5, 6, and 7, and a few seasons of How I met your Mother...all were $5. An interesting price point....

Be aware that the Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, That 70s Show, and Married with Children (possibly others - just check the back) season sets at BL are the re-releases from Mill Creek. You can usually do much better price wise on those from Amazon and others.
